...Daylen and I knew each other in high school. We had some of the same friends. Sometimes we made eye contact in the halls. We were pleasant to each other, but we were in different grades. We didn't see each other often enough to really know one another.

I graduated, I left home, and I lived the Army life. A few winters in upstate New York and one deployment later, I finally got to return to Missouri. I took at walk at the Branson Landing one day. There's not much to see down there, but I did happen to look through the window of a store (a hot sauce store of all things) and make eye contact with Daylen for the first time in a long time.

I walked inside, and we introduced ourselves all over again.

There are a lot of details from there on. There are a lot of small moments that built the foundation of what we are together. We have driven together for thousands of miles, we have raised a beautiful dog, we have planned a future that people admire.

I never wanted to call Daylen my boyfriend, because he was always more than that. He is my partner in this world, the one who is here to be my other half.

I can not truly put my love for this man into words, but I can find a song that helps.
