Late May to early June is a time of great change in the seasons. It marks the coming of the monsoon, a moment of celebration for all life in the subcontinent. Our wedding is before the usual Monsoon Onset in Goa (June 5th), but every year is different. The symbolism of having it at this moment is too poetic to resist.
A visit to Kerala is a great option in this season. There are many tours that take you from the mountains of the Western Ghats to the backwaters and the Ocean.
Of course what's a trip to India without seeing the Taj Mahal? It is a part of the Golden Triangle New Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur. All three are very ancient places with rich history. We would advise being very careful when traveling these places especially as solo female travelers.
Spend more time in Goa! Goa is probably the most western friendly area of India. It's not big, but a very interesting place. One of the few places colonized by the Portuguese.
...And then there's always Hyderabad! (Nobody wants to visit Hyderabad!) But they have Google India's Headquarters. And Anirudh was born there.
There are many other places to see in India. It truly is a continent, with each state having it's own language, culture, cuisine, and history. Reach out if you have any questions!
Also, why not stop by another country nearby? India is not far from Thailand, Dubai, east Africa, even the Malidives!
Options are endless, but do exercise pre-caution. You will attract attention. Most of it is harmless and out of curiosity, but it can feel irritating. Just know that depending on where you go, and what you look like, you might be the first kind of you they have ever seen!
