Our Wedding

We met in 2020 on a Saturday afternoon at the Van Nuys/Sherman Oaks Rec Center, during one of the beloved soccer games her mom has hosted for years. We were just two players on the same field, surrounded by laughter, family, and community — unaware that God was beginning something far greater than we could see. There was something about each other that caught our attention. We noticed — not fully, not deeply yet — but enough to wonder. We exchanged a few passing words, but that was all. Life wasn’t ready for us yet… and neither were we. It wasn’t until after her grandmother’s funeral that we had our first real conversation. Grief has a way of opening doors, and in that quiet moment, something shifted. We spent a little more time together after that, but we were still in different seasons, growing in different directions. So we waited — or rather, God had us wait. Then came an invitation to a Sunday night church service. That night turned into a dinner. And that dinner became the start of something intentional, something real. As we spent time together, we saw each other clearly. One of us felt cared for in a way that softened old defenses. The other felt safe to be fully seen — to laugh, to pray, to be vulnerable. Somewhere in those ordinary days, we both knew: this was it. This was home. On Mother’s Day, with our families gathered in love, we got engaged in front of the gondola at his family’s home. It was a moment full of joy, but more than that, it felt like confirmation — a whisper from above that we were exactly where we were meant to be. Only later did we discover how our lives had brushed past each other for years — our brothers went to the same school, our families knew the same people. We had always been near, just not yet knit together. It wasn’t coincidence. It was divine timing. Our story is one of patience, of growth, of trust. It’s not perfect, but it is purposeful. And through every twist and turn, we’ve seen God’s hand weaving it all together — not too early, never too late, always on time.

On May 11th, beneath the charming gondola in front of his home, we said “yes” to forever. With both our families there to witness and celebrate, it became more than an engagement—it became a memory stitched together with laughter, happy tears, and love all around.
