Tyler grew up in West Palm Beach, Florida before making his way to Florida State University to study Civil Engineering. He commissioned in the Navy in his junior year and joined the exclusive class of Nuclear Submariners. Following graduation, on the USS Georgia, Tyler traveled throughout the Mediterranean becoming a "shell-back" when he crossed the equator--be sure to check out his ankle tattoo. His travels eventually landed him on the USS Columbus in Newport News, Virginia where he would later meet Raven.

Raven grew up in Sarasota, Florida before attending the University of Central Florida where she studied Political Science and minored in Dance. Raven always knew she wanted to pursue a career in law and following graduation, she attended William & Mary Law School in Williamsburg, Virginia where should would meet Tyler and spark the "west-coast best coast" debate, regarding the better coasts of their shared home state.

Tyler first asked Raven out on a Friday in February 2022. Raven already had plans with friends and advised Tyler she could do Saturday instead. Tyler told her that worked, so long as she promised to show up, and planned for a date at the bowling alley (really to demonstrate his skills). Tyler and Raven met for the first time on a date that felt like it was taken straight out of a romantic comedy. A random guy asked Tyler for exercise advice within 3 minutes of Raven and Tyler meeting, Tyler then bowled five straight strikes in a row before Tyler, not wanting the night to end, asked Raven to join him for pizza at the restaurant around the corner. The two immediately clicked and shared plenty of laughs on the first date. Raven would later learn this all occurred on Tyler's birthday!

They had their second date just two short days later where they went on a hike and talked about everything under the sun. From then on, they were inseparable and spent their time in Virginia walking around Colonial Williamsburg (at Raven's repeated request), having puzzle nights at home, and checking off all the local restaurants on Raven's list. The only days spent apart were Tyler's overnight duty days where he always ensured he snuck away to call her--rain or shine--for at least five minutes.

Their relationship quickly turned to distance with Raven returning home to Florida to practice law and Tyler remaining in Virginia to finish out his contract. But the two were undeterred and had nightly Facetime dates where they would watch movies together and share their days. During this time Raven and Tyler stacked up the frequent flyer points on their many trips between the two states.

Tyler proposed in March of 2023 in Asheville, North Carolina. The two had gone for a fun vacation and planned for a long day of hiking in the Blue Ridge Mountains. After hiking what felt like straight vertical for two hours Tyler and Raven finally reached summit and Tyler got down on one knee in the most beautiful location with just the two of them. After taking some selfies, the two began hiking down the mountain debriefing about all the details and planning leading to this moment, when they realized once down in the parking lot they would have no service to call family and friends. So Raven and Tyler after nearly reaching the bottom of the mountain, turned right back around and hiked all the way back up in an effort to call their loved ones and share the news.... Only once they did, no one answered!!!

Tyler and Raven's relationship has been one of commitment and dedication from the start. The two balance one another out in all the best ways and encourage the other to live out their dreams all while supporting from the sidelines. They look forward to a happy and long life together and can't wait to celebrate the beginning of this new journey with all of their closest family and friends on November 2, 2024.
