Our Wedding

Raymond and Maricela met on Catholic Match, an online dating app for Catholics, even though neither of them favored the idea of online dating. Three people suggested that Maricela should give Catholic Match a try and a few friends of Raymond’s suggested that he should check it out. So, they both made accounts not expecting much. One day, Maricela was scrolling through the app and came across Raymond’s account. As she read his profile she thought to herself, “He’s cute and looks like he’s a good Catholic. I have nothing to lose if I like his profile.” So she clicked the like button. Meanwhile, Raymond had not been on Catholic Match in four months. One day he got back on and saw he had three notifications. Two were months old, but one was from seven days ago. Raymond looked at the seven day old notification, clicked on the profile, and saw that the girl’s name was Maricela. He scrolled through, read her profile, and thought to himself, “I like that she goes to daily mass often and she’s pretty cute.” So he messaged her asking if she would go on a date with him and she agreed. On December, 1st 2024, they met up at Summer Moon Coffee in Austin. When Maricela arrived Raymond wasn’t there yet so she sat outside at a table. When Raymond got there he went inside the coffee shop and completely missed Maricela sitting outside. Not seeing her inside he went back outside and spotted her sitting. Walking up to her he said. “Maricela, right?” “Yes! Raymond, right?” Said Maricela as she stood up. “Yes!” Said Raymond. “Have you gotten anything to drink? Do you want something?” “I actually don’t drink coffee or tea really.” Said Maricela. “I really just drink water. That’s why I carry my water bottle with me.” “So, do you want to get something?” Raymond asked. “No I’m good with just my water.” Maricela replied. With much enthusiasm Raymond said, “I don’t drink coffee or tea either! Would it be okay if I grabbed my water bottle from my truck and we just sit out here to talk?” “That’s completely fine with me.” said Maricela. So, Raymond grabbed his water and Maricela grabbed her sweater and they talked for two and a half hours outside of Summer Moon. Both enjoying the time together, they exchanged phone numbers. Four dates later, on December 15th 2024, Raymond asked Maricela to be his girlfriend. On July 13 2025, seven months later, Raymond proposed! Thank you so much for making the trip to join for our Wedding Mass! We want you to be prepared for your trip to St. Mary's Cathedral. Here are details for getting there and parking. Parking details on the Cathedral website: https://smcaustin.org/#tabContent_6418043 Since our wedding occurs during business hours, the Cathedral is unable to offer free parking as they do after business hours and on weekends. For the most affordable option, we recommend street parking near the Cathedral or parking at the Texas Capitol Visitor's Parking Garage (see link above for details). The City of Austin has parking meters that charge $2.00 per hour. You can pay with quarters, dimes, and/or nickels or use a card (card incurs an extra $0.25 fee). See the picture below for street parking indicated by the yellow lines drawn on the map.

You are also welcome to park at the Capitol Tower Garage. The cost will be closer to $10 to park there. Please see the Cathedral website page for instructions on parking there and getting to the Cathedral. You will want to go to floor #1 from the elevator, walk through the Prosperity Bank, and then out the doors and around the building to the Cathedral. Do not go to floor #2, as the elevator doors will not open. Since it will be during school hours, they keep the doors to floor #2 locked since they lead directly to the Cathedral School gym. Alternatively, the Texas Capitol Visior's parking garage offers free parking for the first two hours and is two blocks away from the Cathedral. See information on how to park there on the Cathedral parking website. If you are traveling from outside of Texas, be prepared for the traffic. This is a busy city with a lot of activity.
