Brett and Rebecca met by chance one evening in the Spring of 2019. Brett was visiting his brother, sister in-law, and niece; Becky, visiting a close family friend. Too nervous to speak to one another, the pair barely exchanged words. After waiting a few weeks, Brett found the courage to make the first move by sending the ever-so-classic Instagram “Follow” and private message with well-wishes on her last month of school at St. Joe’s University.

Once school came to a close and Becky had moved back home, Brett seized the opportunity to ask Becky out for “celebratory drinks”. The pair had their first date at Agricola Eatery in Princeton. True to form, Brett ate his entire meal within minutes and Becky was so nervous she barely touched her food. It was Brett’s almond-crusted salmon that served as the perfect icebreaker. This is when Becky learned that Brett has a nut allergy that he doesn't take too seriously and little did she know, she was in for a life of continuously reminding Brett that his allergy is not a suggestion.

After a few hours of conversation and a couple of cocktails later, the evening was coming to a close. As the two left the restaurant and prepared to say their goodbye’s for the evening, Brett saw his moment and he took it, planting a first kiss on Becky so hard that he nearly chipped the bonding off of her front teeth. That memorable moment made for a good laugh and many reenactments of that first kiss for years to come.

Over the years, Brett and Becky have enjoyed nights spent singing along at country music concerts together, summers in Seaside getting way too sunburnt, date-nights-in testing out new recipes, and always maintaining a strict 8:00 pm bedtime. No matter the moment, no matter the occasion, they have remained by each other’s side - in good times and bad.

Becky and Brett’s love story came full-circle on a rainy day in October of 2023; it was at Agricola Eatery in Princeton where Brett surprised Becky with a proposal. Becky suspected nothing of the suggestion of brunch at the couple’s favorite restaurant. It wasn’t until Brett tearfully attempted to say the phrase: “from the moment we met..” that Becky put the pieces together. Too emotional to successfully deliver his well-rehearsed proposal, Brett got down on one knee and Becky met him with a full embrace and a big smooch. To this day, Becky jokes that she is still uncertain whether or not Brett was able to get out the words “will you marry me?” through his tears.
