On Tuesday nights, Chris played DnD (dungeons and dragons - a dice game for those who don't know what that is) with his friends in a friend's basement. His dad would tell him often "how are you going to meet a girl when all you do is play with your friends in a basement".
Well, it turns out there was a girl named Rebecca that would attend these game nights and make drawings of the characters from the game.
Some players would bring her dinner as payment for her drawings. Well, since Chris kept forgetting to bring her dinner, he asked her if she was available to go out to eat.
So he asked her if she was free that Friday night, he would take her out to dinner. It didn't dawn on Chris that this could be taken as going on a date.
So, the next morning, Chris was talking to his mom and the conversation went like this:
Mom: What did you do last night?
Chris: I went out to dinner with Rebecca.
Mom: What? Just you and a girl? No one else?
Chris: Yes, I forgot to buy her dinner so I told her I would take her out.
Mom: Like a date?
Chris: Yea, we both realized while we were there that it was a date.
Mom: Did you have a good time?
Chris: Yea, I did.
So, his dad was wrong, you can meet a girl in your friend's basement playing a very nerdy game
