We are celebrating what we are calling a "Wedding Ratification Ceremony." We eloped in February of last year, using my sister Julie as our officiant. This elopement was originally planned as a mere civil function but developed as we planned into our spiritual union ceremony. Now, to have our cake and eat it too, (have a party and the trappings of a typical wedding) we invite our extended friends and family to "ratify" our wedding with their presence, formally acknowledging that we are married.
