A long-long time ago...

...in Milwaukee the summer of 2022, to be exact... two people hit the online dating scene in the hopes of finding love. One, an introverted cat lady. The other, a catfishing blue-eyed man-boy. This, is their story.

Becky: I swiped right because I saw a dog-dad (it was a husky), who also snowboarded and fished.

Eric: I swiped right because I knew that Becky had similar interests and looked active... and capable. But mostly because it looked like Becky liked to do the things that I liked to do.

After that the two spent four weeks, intermittently texting. Becky would text Eric, he would reply. Becky would respond, Eric would disappear for a few days and eventually respond... It was almost magical... sorta.

Becky: I felt like he hated dating apps as much as I did, and just had a feeling, so I just kept waiting.

In the end they went on their first date, meeting at an outdoor summer bar called Nomad. After two slushy drinks, Eric took Becky for some classic Midwest cracker crust pizza. Proud of his choice he asked how she liked it. Becky replied it was her least favorite kind of pizza, crushing Eric's soul. After a mediocre dinner (due to the cracker crust, not the company) the two didn't want the night to end, so they went for a walk. Eric pointed out Milwaukee landmarks (such as murder bridge and Water Street) while the two walked along the Riverwalk (later the location of their engagement photos, though not the exact portion).

After their first date, the two spent the rest of the summer getting to know each other, with a commitment to try to get together when Becky returned to Williamsburg in the fall. However, both clearly stating, a long-distance relationship was not what they wanted.

They then continued to date long distance, obviously, with the understanding that they would move together to wherever Becky got a job, which would never be in Milwaukee or Wisconsin.

So, they bought together and moved into a condo in Milwaukee. Three months later, after a few brief panic attacks about the number of belongings versus the amount of space in the condo, Eric proposed to Becky in a Pennsylvania pumpkin patch. She said yes.
