Buddy's Pizza

Madison Building, 1565 Broadway St, Detroit, MI 48226, USA
(313) 765-1500

A Detroit staple and one of the originators of the Detroit Style Deep Dish Pizza, check out Buddy's Pizza while you're in town as it's one of John's favorite pizza spots!

Lafayette Coney Island

118 W Lafayette Blvd, Detroit, MI 48226, USA

There are a TON of Coney Island restaurants, not just in Detroit but around Michigan. For the original taste of a Detroit Style Coney Dog and an experience you can brag to your friends about, stop by this Detroit staple and grab a Coney Dog!

Belle Isle Park

99 Pleasure Dr, Detroit, MI 48207, USA
(313) 821-9844

Designed by the same urban designer that designed New York's Central Park, take a drive out to this famed island on the Detroit River and experience a free aquarium, nature preserve, botanical garden, and so much more. Let us know if you see any deer or elk on the island while you're there!

The Brakeman

22 John R St, Detroit, MI 48226, USA
(313) 486-5300

Detroit is home to way too many breweries to list and visit in one go, so we recommend a stop at the Brakeman if you want to take a tour of some Michigan made brews without having to bounce around town or the state! While you're there, check out Penny Reds for some amazing fried chicken and hot honey covered biscuits :)

Detroit RiverWalk

Detroit RiverWalk, Detroit, MI 48226, USA

Feel like putting some miles in with a view and without burning gas? Pick a spot on the Detroit Riverwalk and take a run or walk with views of downtown, Canada across the river, and urban parks!

***If you have some time, take a drive through Detroit on a route both John and Rebecca love. Start down Michigan avenue from Dearborn, into the heart of Downtown Detroit where you can cruise the first paved highway in America, Woodward Avenue! When you're ready to leave the downtown area, hop on Jefferson and settle in as you follow the shoreline of the Detroit River to the east side and into the famed Grosse Pointe Communities where Jefferson opens up to a beautiful boulevard called Lake Shore Drive. End your trip with a stop at one of the many watering holes or dining establishments of the marina district of St. Claire Shores while watching the waves come in.
