Best day ever! Thank you so much to everyone who traveled to Tully to celebrate with us! We had an amazing time and we hope you all did too! It was a magical day that we will never forget. Thanks to all who made it happen!
The barn at Arlington Acres is all set up for the celebration! Thanks to all who helped set up - it looks magical.
We have the ceremony rehearsal tonight and we are looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow!
Rebecca picked up her wedding dress! The alterations are complete, thanks to Rosa!
The final menu decision has been sent to Bull & Bear Roadhouse - yum!!
Greg picked up his wedding ring! It originally arrived back in June, but it was the wrong ring! (Right size, slightly different style...) So the store had to send it back and make a new one. Good thing we ordered it back in April!
Rebecca's wedding dress arrived at New York Bride & Co. last week! It's just as wonderful as she remembered! Unfortunately, there is not enough time to have the seamstresses at New York Bride perform the alterations, so Rebecca found someone close to Braintree that got great reviews. Her first alterations appointment went smoothly - she has confidence that Rosa at Touch of Design will provide the perfect fit (and hem it so Rebecca doesn't trip on the way to the altar)!
The necktie Greg ordered arrived in the mail! It goes so well with his suit!
We visited Arlington Acres - this time in 80 degree weather instead of 20 degrees - to gather some ideas for decorations. We also stopped by the mall and Greg said "yes!" to his wedding shoes!
We picked up Rebecca's wedding ring at Imagine in Skaneateles! It's perfect! :)
We finished addressing all of the invitations and sent them out in the mail! When you receive yours, please RSVP by filling out the tear-off postcard and just placing it in the mail! The postcard is already stamped so it's ready to go! We hope you can celebrate with us in Tully in September!
Family and friends put together a "Beauty and the Beast"-themed wedding shower for us! We were truly showered with generosity and kindness and we felt very blessed.
Our invitations arrived! We are so excited for you to see them!
We had our engagement pictures taken at sunrise at Taughannock Falls in Ithaca, NY. We had to leave from Tully at 4:30 am in order to arrive onsite at sunrise but the beautiful lighting and setting were worth it! Our photographer is a really great guy and it was fun to finally meet him!
Greg picked up his suit! It looks amazing!
Rebecca chose her wedding ring! She and Greg spent the morning in Skaneateles to peruse the jewelry selection at Imagine and she found a ring that spoke to her. That evening we, along with both sets of parents, went to Bull and Bear Roadhouse to sign the catering contract and taste the wedding menu they selected. The food and service got twelve thumbs up!
We went to Target and added items to our registry! We also updated our Amazon registry. Decisions, decisions!
Greg's mom helped us with setting up accommodations for guests! Check out the "Details" page on our website for information booking hotels.
We spent most of the day in Downtown Boston running wedding errands. We looked at more options for Rebecca's wedding ring and Greg ordered his custom suit!
We attended a registry event at Crate and Barrel. They were very helpful! We also started registry accounts at Target and Amazon. We still need to update these!
In the morning, we visited the jewelry store where Greg purchased Rebecca's engagement ring. We looked at wedding rings and Greg ordered his! Rebecca got her engagement ring resized. That afternoon, we had a Skype meeting with a potential videographer. After getting off the call, we decided to book them! We are very excited to document our wedding with video. We also booked our wedding band: The Swooners!
On a cold day after work, Greg and Rebecca quickly went over the park around the corner to take a photo for the Save the Dates. The sun was setting and the temperature was dropping closer to 30 degrees, so they hurried to take a decent picture with her tripod before their fingers truly became too numb to hit the shutter button. Rebecca played around with design on Vistaprint and they got those ordered and mailed out!
We had a phone meeting with a wedding photographer Greg found (of all places) on Craiglist! After chatting for a while about photography and life, we got off the phone and immediately emailed him saying we want to book him! We could just tell he would be a great fit to photograph our wedding day.
Along with both sets of parents, we spent the day visiting 3 potential venues. After lots of discussion, we decided to go with Arlington Acres in Lafayette, NY!
The three generations (Rebecca, her mom, and her grandma) went out wedding dress shopping at New York Bride in Syracuse, NY! After the group gathered around 8 dresses to try on, Rebecca tried on one of the dresses she had picked out from the racks. They all loved it and after trying on the rest of the contenders, that was the dress she chose at the end of the day! The first major task checked off the list.
Greg arrives home from Ireland! Let the wedding planning officially begin!
Greg travels to Ireland for work for three weeks! The newly engaged couple reminisces about their college years when they were separated for long time periods - and how glad they are that that time is over!
After hiking 45 miles in the Grand Canyon over 5 days, Greg and Rebecca hiked to an overlook on the rim for one last look at the trails they had traversed over the past week. Greg gave her the fifth letter of the week, and when she finished reading he was down on one knee uttering those life-changing words: "Will you marry me?"
You can read about the trip on Rebecca's blog: FlourishAndBlogs.com. You can also watch the adventures on YouTube! They filmed the entire week!
Gregory Hartnett and Rebecca Snow met in 3rd grade when she moved to Tully in 1998. Their class was putting on a Christmas play and Greg played the role of "Head Elf" - you know, the elf in charge of putting everything in order and making Santa look good? Even back then, Rebecca knew this guy was going places and she wanted to go with him.
Fast forward to Junior Prom and shy Rebecca needed a date. The only person she wanted to go with was Greg, so she had to work up the nerve to ask him. He said, "No, I'm not going with anyone. Let's go together." And they danced the night away.
Senior year, they became lab partners in AP Biology and worked on homework together. They went Christmas shopping together and held hands! Rebecca braved a blizzard to drive the 3/4 of a mile from her house to Greg's house to see his new kitten, Simba. On December 23rd, 2007, Rebecca asked him, "Are you my boyfriend?" They both already knew the answer.
After graduating from Tully in 2008, Rebecca went to college at Cornell while Greg headed to University of Rochester. Neither of them had a car and both were on sports teams with practices and races on the weekends. So even though their schools were relatively close to each other, they may as well have been on different planets! Nearly every evening at school was spent doing homework at their desks with the webcam on, just chilling together while being apart. Praise God for webcams! Luckily, it worked out that they were usually able to see each other in person once every month or so.
Finally - they graduated in 2012! They lived together in Syracuse while Greg worked at Bristol-Myers Squibb and Rebecca earned her Master of Public Health degree at the joint degree program at Upstate Medical University/Syracuse University.
After Rebecca graduated in 2015, their journey took them to Boston to seek more opportunities. They adopted two cats - Felix and Finnegan - in 2016, who are now integral parts of the family.
For Christmas 2016, Greg surprised Rebecca with a trip to Las Vegas to see Celine Dion and the Grand Canyon to hike for 5 days. It was the trip that Rebecca had been dreaming about for years. After seeing her icon Celine (and shedding tears of joy the whole time), they started on their 5 day trek through the canyon. Each day, Greg gave her a sweet letter. After they completed the hike, Greg requested they check out an overlook to view the trail. Once there, he gave her the final letter. As she looked up from finishing the letter, Greg was down on one knee with a ring saying, "Will you marry me?" She said, "Yeah!!"
