Jonathan and Rebecca's story began differently than most do now a day. No, they did not meet online... they went more old school and were set up. Both Jonathan's and Rebecca's grandparents live in the same over 55 community in New City, New York and for YEARS Jonathan's grandparents (Sandy and Joel) asked Rebecca's grandparents (Suzanne and Jack) to convince them to go out on a date. After several failed attempts and meeting of the families without one another, Jonathan took matters into his own hands. On February 13th (conveniently falling between Rebecca's birthday and Valentines Day) he spent about 25 minutes formulating the perfect text message asking her to go to dinner. The two set plans to meet on February 16th. Jonathan, staying traditional to how dating was in the age of our grandparents, picked Rebecca up and they headed to dinner at PF Chang's where he proceeded to win her over with lettuce wraps, Mongolian beef, and sautéed string beans (even though he barely ate them). From that point on, they spent nearly every weekend together until they took the plunge and became roommates in January 2020.

Since then, they've spent nearly every second together. A global pandemic with both of them working from home and a puppy named Barkley only brought them closer together.

Fast forward to September 3rd 2020- the two spent their day off from work relaxing at the beach. Jonathan convinced Rebecca to skip virtual class that night and they went out to dinner at Darios (which was their first date spot in RVC after they moved in together). When they got home from dinner, Barkley was wearing a bandana on behalf of Jonathan, asking Rebecca to marry him. She turned around to look at the dog and then she looked back down to find Jonathan on his knee, asking her to be his wife. She immediately said YES!
