"Mawage. Mawage is wot bwings us together, today." -The Princess Bride
It's something out of a modern-day love story. He sent a message on an online dating platform, to which he didn't see a reply for weeks. I only got on now and again to sift through the awful pick-up lines, take screen shots, and send them to my friends for laughs. Not looking for anything at the time, I saw his message, and it made me smile. He had picked something out of my long-winded profile that I didn't actually expect anyone to see, and he sent the message. I responded, and things blossomed from there. He told me he had lost hope I was ever going to respond!
We met on a Wednesday afternoon in August 2019 for lunch at a sushi restaurant, and the server forgot our crab Rangoon! We then walked over to Starbucks and continued to talk. The relationship began to flourish! I was pretty hooked on him from the beginning, and from the reality of our situation, it seems like he was too.
He definitely blindsided me with his love. When we met, my grandma was in hospice after a severe hemorrhagic stroke and my life was a mess. He saw through all of that and loved me anyway.
We continued to grow and learn more about each other and our children over the next several months. Covid came, and we got to stay home from work, so we were able to spend a lot of time together, and with our kids! As the year progressed, so did our feelings and talks of moving in together. After a year of dating we decided to take that next step!
We had talked about whether or not we wanted any children together, to which we ultimately decided no. So, naturally, we got a puppy instead! π So. Much. Work!! We surprised the kids 4th of July weekend with Murphy and he's been such an energetic addition to our family.
Come New Years Eve 2021, I had a surprise for Jonathan that I'd been planning for a few months. He had joked about if I wanted to get married, I'd have to ask him since he's already been married and divorced once. I took it as a challenge. So I bought a ring, my best friend and I made a shirt and I waited for New Years Eve to roll around.
I was more nervous than I even thought possible but he said YES!!! And here we are!
2 short months later, and I had another shock to share with him... we were expecting, and it wasn't a puppy this time. 9 very long months later and Henry Simon was here to complete our family.
Onto the next adventure....MARRIAGE!!! We cannot wait to celebrate our big day with you!!
