A PERFECT MATCH

Our story begins on New Year's Day 2020. Rebecca decides it is finally time to meet her person. Her ONE person, the man she has waited years to find. She embarks on her mission: finding her man. Is hoping to find him in Des Moines, the city she loves.David is also testing out relationships, looking for his ONE person. Wondering over all the months and years if this might be the one. And hoping to find her in Des Moines, the city he loves. March of 2020, the covid pandemic is in full swing and the world has largely come to a stop. The only way to meet someone is online. Rebecca joins Match.com, and meets many good men, but none are the one. David dates various women, but none of them last. They are not the one. They each continue their work and hobbies: Rebecca at the hospital, while also doing aerial, yoga, acro, and fiddle, David at the law firm, while also playing and coaching volleyball, and helping with the family farm. November 2020, thinking her man was not going to be found online, Rebecca decides to check in on Match one last time, just in case there is anyone new. David had been on and off Match over the years, and has just decided to rejoin in November.Rebecca sees the most handsome man ever looking out at her from his photo. It is David! And he has messaged her! She happily responds. That Saturday night is their first date, at Alba. The masks come off. They move on to The Republic. They talk til 2am.They discover that for over 20 years, they have lived only 8.5 blocks apart. And both know people in common. Yet somehow they have never met.(He also admits that her red dress photo on Match was key to getting his attention!)Two days later, he drives by while she is walking her dogs and stops to chat. Later he asks her out for a 2nd date."Will there be food?" she asks. (They never ate on the first date, only talked and drank and talked some more.) "I am a woman who needs to eat." "Yes", he replies. "I am taking you to the finest restaurant in town. The Tree Top Tap and Cafe." That Friday night, she arrives at his house, he pours a drink, and says they need to hurry to make their reservation. She grabs her coat to follow him...to the stairs? Confused, she follows him up, up, up, through a secret doorway, and then they are in the attic. One of the most magical places she could imagine. The table is beautifully set, colorful lights surround her, fun music plays, and yes, the balcony confirms that they are indeed in the treetops! He has a full bar and says to look at the menu and decide what she wants to eat. They choose some food items. He says "Wait here, I'll be right back." Two minutes later he reappears, carrying large bags full of food. He has ordered every vegetarian item from the menu of another of their favorite restaurants. He spreads it out as she looks on in astonishment. "This is a lot of food!" she says. David gazes into Rebecca's eyes, and says "I want you to know that you will never go hungry again."They feast, and again they talk on and on. He asks her out for the following night, exactly one week from the first date. They return to the attic for another magical dinner. And Rebecca knows that night, with complete certainty, that David is the one she has waited for...her person, with whom she wants to spend her life. When she tells him that later, he responds "Well I knew you were the one from the first date. What took you so long?":)) They meet each other's friends and families. He meets her beloved dogs, who both also say "He is finally here!!"They get to spend a lot of time at home together due to the pandemic. Celebrating birthdays, holidays, any and all days. They start learning acro for fun in the living room.They take their first trip together, to Cabo San Lucas, in April 2021. Huge fun. At the DM Arts Festival in June, they see a sculpture of a magician, and Rebecca jokingly points out: "Look David! He hypnotized her, just like you did with me in the attic!" David goes back later and buys the sculpture, which now sits proudly at the entrance to the magical attic. Later that month, Rebecca has a routine physical and the doctor discovers a problem. David takes her to Mayo in July. She needs heart surgery. He not only stays by her side through the entire journey, but makes sure she gets to Mayo in Rochester, MN three different times, and he continues to encourage and inspire her to heal and recover, his support never wavering. And he always keeps her well fed (especially with chocolate chip cookies, her very favorite thing)! David has been running stairs at the law firm for years, and convinces Rebecca to start running stairs at the hospital for her cardiac rehab. She enjoys this new hobby, and they both continue to do stairs daily at work, and every chance they get. He also becomes her trainer at the gym, and her heart surgery becomes a distant memory. They get to experience both good times and hard times, supporting each other through various life events: Losing beloved family members (human and animal). Office changes at work. World events. And they have lots of fun adventures and vacations: Nashville, Kansas City, Arizona, California, New York, Lake Tahoe.On weekends they explore Des Moines; visiting bars, restaurants, concerts, plays, shows, festivals.They go boating at the lake, host dinner parties and big Halloween bashes. The mannequins join the family;)) In November 2023, on the eve of the 3 year anniversary of their first date, David asks Rebecca to come over for dinner to celebrate. He thoughtfully and precisely recreates every detail of their very first attic date. After a lovely dinner, he suddenly surprises her and proposes! Of course, she says YES! They return to Cabo for another relaxing and fun vacation, and the wedding planning begins!********************************************************************* And now we are very excited to share and combine our lives! To do this, we must "purge to merge", and this is a work in progress. But first, we are both very excited to share this special day with our treasured families and friends from near and far. We welcome you to our wedding and thank you all for sharing our joy!!

**WHAT IS THE ITINERARY FOR YOUR WEDDING? Our wedding is scheduled to start at 4:30pm on Saturday, at the River Center (across from Principal Park, DM's baseball stadium). Parking will be available in a lot behind the building, please follow the signs to ensure you park in the correct lot. There will be a cocktail hour immediately following the ceremony, followed by the reception/dinner.Between 8:30-9pm we will begin the after party, which will last until midnight (for those who have the energy)!All of these activities will be held in the same venue. **WHAT TYPE OF FOOD WILL BE SERVED? We will have food stations with a variety of foods to choose from, we should have something to please every taste! **IS THIS AN OPEN BAR? Yes (you know how we roll) We will have delightful options for those of you who enjoy alcohol as well as for those who prefer non-alcoholic beverages. **WHAT IS THE DRESS CODE? We are calling it "dressy cocktail attire", or semi-formal type of attire. Ties are optional for men, as it still might be warm in September, so be comfortable. Most of the evening will be indoors, except for the cocktail hour which will be held on the outdoor patio. **AM I ALLOWED TO BRING CHILDREN? We love your children and grandchildren but unfortunately we cannot host any children at our wedding. We appreciate your understanding. **CAN WE TAKE PHOTOS OR VIDEOS? We invite you to be fully present with us during our wedding ceremony. Please keep all devices turned off/silenced/put away during the ceremony. Our professional photographers will provide plenty of photos!You may take photos and videos (and please enjoy our photo booth also!) after the ceremony and during the reception, dinner, and after party. **WHAT ELSE DO WE NEED TO KNOW? Bring all the joy and laughter and fun!! And for those from out of town:**WHAT MODES OF TRANSPORTATION ARE AVAILABLE TO GET AROUND DES MOINES? Many things are within walking distance of downtown hotels, and we also have a 4 mile climate-controlled skywalk system.&nbsp; If you have a car, there is street parking, or you can use parking lots and parking garages all over the city.&nbsp; The hotels have airport shuttles.&nbsp;We have Uber, Lyft, and also Yellow Cab Co (515-243-1111).&nbsp; DART is our bus system, and the free D-line shuttle (Route 42) runs in a loop downtown every 15 minutes, providing service from the Iowa State Capitol complex in the East Village to the Western Gateway. Just hop on the bus, no fare needed.&nbsp; DSMStreetCollective.org/bike-share is our b-bike service with bike stations all around the downtown area.

DSM is our local airport, it is only 10 minutes from the downtown area (which is where our wedding will be held, and where all of our suggested hotels are located). All of the major airlines fly in and out of DM.
