Our Wedding

We first met a long long time ago ( 18 years ago).....while we were at College of the Redwoods. Vanessa was looking for new friends. When I saw Rebecca I was drawn to her and her old smelly 70's poof vest. I stalked her. I jumped into her classes and made her my lab partner. Despite a few red flags for Rebe, a beautiful friendship was born. There were many bottles of wine, beach bonfires and camping to seal the deal. A little whisky and the rest is history. Over time .....the magnetic pull of out friendship developed into something else... here we are ...Best friends...FOREVER

The Eureka/Arcata Airport (ACV) which is technically in McKinleyville. Flight are limited, it is a small airport. Closest larger airports are Sacramento and San Fransisco which are about a 5 hour drive from us.&nbsp;

Travel and Accommodations

There are many places to walk in the majestic redwoods here in Humboldt county. Here at Redwoods National State Park you will walk with some of the tallest trees in the world.

Redwood National and State Parks

Grizzly creek offers swimming, picnic and camping. It is the larger of the the two campgrounds and offers day use. About 30min to Bear River Casino and the wedding venue. Several miles before this camp site is a smaller campsite called Swimmer's Delight. These are both good for children.

Visit where Rebe works on a nature preserve. Walk through wetlands and grazing land and see the Pacific Ocean. Reservations are required. Bird watching is abundant! And if you are lucky, otters too!

Eel River Estuary Preserve

Visit the natural history museum in Arcata where Vanessa works. See cool exhibits and check out their awesome gift shop!

See the zoo with the adorable otter exhibit and walk on the highest skywalk (over 100ft tall) in the US in an old growth redwood forest. Also, walk along the many trails in the park or play in the children's playground with slides off old growth redwood stumps. Lots of places for a picnic! Fun for the whole fam!

Sequoia Park Zoo

A gorgeous easily accessible beach with the Little River flowing through it. Cliffs, sand, rocks, otters, families and waves are abundant on this beautiful coastline. The restaurant Moonstone Grill overlooks this beach. Visit the beautiful town of Trinidad while you're there!

Tucked in the town of Arcata, you can hike around the majestic redwoods on many trails or play in their awesome children's playground.

Arcata Community Forest

This is a one mile loop through a narrow valley lined with ferns. It is spectacular to walk through canyon and see the coast line. It is very popular and now required reservations, check the website for details. Keep an eye out for elk along the way!

Take a guided cruise or a sunset cocktail cruise around Humboldt Bay on the nations oldest passenger ferry.

Madaket Harbor Cruise

Visit the picturesque old Victorian town in Ferndale. Go shopping and have a meal on main street in this town that is lost in time. Stop by No Brand Burger Stand, for a hole in the wall burger joint that serves locally grown beef. Or have some home-made ice cream just down the road. Swing by their small museum for some local history and their cute botanical garden. Or take a hike in the forested Russ Park. Drive to Centerville Beach to see the ocean and sea cliffs.

Visit the marine lab and touch cool ocean critters. The town of Trinidad is worth the visit alone!

Shuttles to and from Bear River Casino

Shuttle to and from Bear River Casino. We have too many people who want a shuttle to and from the casino. There are 4 shuttles going to the venue at 2, 2:30, 3 and 3:30. There are 5 shuttles going back to the casino at 11, 11:15, 11:30, 11:45, 12. We can order more shuttles for returning to the casino and you are allowed to leave your car parked over night at the venue. There will be folks returning Sunday morning to clean and could give you a ride back. The venue is 2.5 miles from the casino. Each shuttle holds 9 people. If some folks are willing and able to drive at least one way that would be helpful.

Sunday Meet-up

We had planned to meet at Grizzly Creek but the road is partially closed with long traffic delays. Instead we will meet at Moonstone Beach in Trinidad. Join us for a day of relaxing on the beach, hopefully soaking up some sun and swimming in the frigid ocean or Little River that runs through it. Also, enjoy the charming coastal town on Trinidad.
