Rebecca had just returned from a 2-week trip to China. Little did she know our apartment was Engagement HQ. I had planted the seed of a “couple's shoot” months in advance. We were being asked by a good friend Alex Knight to help him “practice.” I bought a suit and a dress and a secret ring. The photo session started like any other session. After a convincing number of shots, it was time to pull off the big one. My best friend and second partner in life, Allan Weck, smoothly put the box in my hand, and I knew, It was time to ask the love of my life to be my partner in life forever. “Rebecca turn around, and Dave do the same” “Okay Rebecca, turn back and look at Dave” 💍 I couldn’t have said the words any faster “will you marry me?” After the initial shock and confusion of a perfectly executed surprise, Rebecca said, “Yes, but what?” And she stuck her hand out just long enough for me to put a ring on it! The day wasn’t over yet! Surprise after surprise, I wanted to set a baseline of happiness for our future together. All in all, I think it was a pretty great decision.
