It all started on the rig of the fire truck one night when Andrew and Rich were talking about the dating scene. Andrew says to Rich “Well Jess has a best friend.” Rich was immediately interested. As for Rebecca….it took her a bit of convincing, yelling and a good cop/bad cop friend conversation to get her to agree.

Rich texted Rebecca one night leaving the firehouse and asked if he could give her a call. After an hour of talking on the phone, a first date was set for April 8, 2023.

Rich showed up at the house with flowers and ready to take Rebecca out. Ever since that first date Rebecca and Rich have been inseparable traveling to Italy, Ireland and Charleston.

On April 20, 2024 Rebecca planned a day at a tulip field to pick tulips, as they are her favorite flower. Knowing that’s the best place to propose Rich started planning. With Rebecca’s mom’s blessing Rich went to the jeweler and had a beautiful tulip setting engagement ring made. It ended up being a cold, wet, muddy day, but beautiful in its own way. Rich got down on one knee and asked Rebecca to marry him. She said YES!
