Our Story

Our story is a classic of authentic friendship that has grown into the love we have for each other today. We both went to Texas A&M, but we were passing ships in the night some would say. The one semester Rebecca helped out with the same organization David was involved in, he was away that semester on his internship.

It is thanks to one of our best friends who helped us start our relationship. It is what has lead to where we are now. Rebecca was moving back into her home town after college, Round Rock, TX. David was out of college at this point and happened to be living and working in the area. This friend sent a message to David letting him know that her best friend, Rebecca, was moving back home and that she thought they would really get along. She asked if he would be interested in meeting her. Unbeknownst to Rebecca that any of this occurred, because she was in Europe at the time, David said yes and it lead to their friendship meeting for dinner and drinks in downtown Round Rock once she got back.

This lead to a two year long friendship that formed between us. We both became involved with youth ministry and young adult ministry at our Church. We had many interests in common throughout our initial friendship. By gradually growing our friendship, and getting to know each other as authentic friends, we were able to grow into more than that. This moved us towards dating and eventually our engagement.

The funny statement you will see between the both of us is a question we still ask each other from time to time which is from when we first started dating. The question is, "Is this a Date?"

The story is, David invited Rebecca to his company Christmas party when we were first getting to know each other. He asked if she would go with him to the party. Through his delivery of asking her out, the word "date" never made it in the line of questioning. Rebecca re-affirmed him, and asked if she would be going as a date or just friends. David said yes it was a date then and there, but re-affirmed it later at the party when one of his co workers asked him "Is this your date? " and David quickly blurted out without hesitation "This is a date!"

We look back and laugh at how innocent and awkward we probably were at the beginning of it all. Through three and a half years of pursuing each other in our dating relationship we have found a genuine love of each other, and continue to grow each day.

So to whomever makes it to the end of this story, Please know that ... This is a Date! and we can't wait to celebrate the Date of 11/23/24 with you for our Sacrament of Marriage!
