As a born and raised Georgian, Jimmy’s days consisted of working on the farm, singing opera, and riding his horse, Blue. After high school, Jimmy wrestled with the idea of working towards going to vet school. However, after some long hours thinking about the large amount of debt vet school would put him in, he chose a different route- Chemistry. After some years of juggling undergrad and the farm, Jimmy finished his degree and applied to one grad school, one day before the application due date. So, to UGA Jimmy went, not wanting to be parted from Georgian soil.
A mild 15-hour drive away, Rebekah was born in New York and lived there for the first 22 years of her life. Growing up, Rebekah enjoyed participating in various sports and musical endeavors. After high school, Rebekah went to undergrad in upstate New York to study Chemistry while balancing involvement in student government roles and her newest sport, ultimate frisbee. After applying to way too many graduate schools, Rebekah decided to move somewhere a little warmer and a little cheaper- Georgia. So, to UGA Rebekah went, for the first time being parted from New York soil.
During the week-long Chemistry graduate school orientation at the University of Georgia, Rebekah and Jimmy met as fellow first-years. It only took a few additional interactions for the two to become good friends and pretty soon, the best of friends. After a couple months of being attached at the hip and discovering all of their commonalities, Rebekah and Jimmy realized that they make a good pair. After much time spent together and a trip to New York to ask Rebekah’s father for permission, Jimmy proposed to Rebekah on September 23, 2023. In another 9 months, after a lot of planning and fun adventures, the two will marry before God, family, and friends, on June 29, 2024.
