New Year's Eve 2019. I had cancelled my plans to go to Cincinnati last minute and decided to stay in Columbus to spend time with my girlfriends instead. We put on our finest thrifted faux fur coats and headed over to Sawyer Junge's apartment for a New Year's Eve bash. I was in the middle of showing off my extremely impressive athletic abilities during an intense game of beer pong when I noticed a blue-eyed boy walk thru the door.Adam Endicott.I knew of him, but didn't realize how stinkin' handsome he was. He had approached the pong table to introduce himself with his Golden Retriever energy. Due to my father listening to the TV at max volume during my formative years, my hearing isn't the best. I had thought Adam told me he had pooped his pants. After receiving a concerned look, I quickly realized that was in fact not what he was trying to tell me, and he walked away.I blew it.The group decided to continue the evening at one of Columbus' finest establishments, Brothers. My friends and I danced the night away without a care in the world. Until it was time for that darn ball to drop. I felt like I was trapped inside of a John Hughes movie as the lead actress who didn't get asked to Prom. Everyone around me was lip locked and smooching while Bruno Mars blared in the background. Well, almost everyone. The blue-eyed boy was standing in the corner on the phone, definitely calling a girl back in BG. (Later to find out he was calling his dad to wish him a happy birthday like the good son he is).I continued on in my awkwardness and decided to steal some balloons to suck out the helium. It's shocking I was single at this juncture, I know.As I was giggling to myself in a high-pitched voice, I felt someone come up to my side.Adam.My pooping of the pants comment, subpar at best dance moves, and awkwardness didn't scare him off after all.For the rest of the evening we laughed, shared stories, and asked each other no less than 500 questions.I knew he had to return to Bowling Green where he was living at the time, but I couldn't let this be the end. After patiently waiting 12 hours for him to reach out, I couldn't sit back any longer. I knew I had to make the first move. I took my talents to Instagram messenger where I sent the most romantic message since Shakespearean times- "Hi, can I have two cheesy crunchies, please?"And here we are today, over 5 years later, still no cheesy crunchies, but more love than I could've ever imagined.

Regan's Version

It was New Year’s Eve. I had just officially graduated from college and was about to begin my first full year as an adult with no school, just life ahead. The plan for the night was simple—head to Columbus, meet up at a party, and go downtown. Just another ordinary New Year’s Eve… or so I thought.I noticed Regan early at the party. I knew of her, but we hadn’t really met before. Maybe we exchanged a few words, but nothing that stood out at the time.Later that night at the bar, I had a little too much to drink and was trying to figure out how to get home. That’s when I saw her again—Regan Campbell. She was in the corner of the bar, taking down NYE balloons and inhaling helium just to talk in a high-pitched, squeaky voice. Somehow, she still seemed like the perfect person to help.And she was. Regan not only helped me get home—still talking through helium, I might add—but also welcomed me into her world that night. We spent hours talking. I asked her everything—from whether she wears hats to what her true passion is. She passed my “interview” with flying colors.The next morning, I returned to Bowling Green and told my four roommates that I needed to get my life together—because I just met the girl I wanted to marry. They were shocked. They had never heard me talk like that before.Later that night, on New Year’s Day, Regan slid into my DMs. She was funny, intriguing, and incredibly genuine. I made plans to come back to Columbus just two days later so we could go on our first date—a museum visit downtown.Spending that weekend with Regan changed everything. I knew, without a doubt, that she was my person. And from that moment forward, I was ready to take on the rest of my life with her.
