Norah McCauley - Maid of Honor
Norah is the older of my two younger sisters and one of my best friends. Our relationship turned into a true friendship in high school where it turns out we had all the same interests. From cheerleading and poms to choir and musicals, we were basically spending every waking minute together. Post-high school, we have continued to share in many of our hobbies and interests. I can always count on Norah to give me inspiration for my workouts, share our newest recipes, and of course to harmonize with me on any song we hear. I am so grateful to have Norah stand with me as my Maid of Honor. She has stood with me since day one and I know our friendship will only grow from here!
Kenny McCarthy - Best Man
Kenny is my younger brother. I say younger instead of little because he is quite a bit taller than me, and he never lets me forget it. Luckily for all Kenny’s “little” siblings, he sets a fantastic example as a big brother. He works ridiculous hours at the Anchor Inn Bar, he is a kind voice of reason when his little siblings get into a spat, and you’ll never see him without a smile on his face. We are all lucky to have him in our lives, and I’m blessed to have him as a best man.
Erin McCauley - Maid of Honor
Erin is my youngest sister, Co-Maid of Honor, and often confused as my twin. She is one of my best friends and she makes everything we do more fun. Erin and I have more inside jokes than I think we even know, and can be found cracking each other up whenever we are together. We share in our music taste and love for Bibimbap (specifically from Asiana in Racine) and anything Thai. Erin is also my go-to girl anyime I need advice because I can always count on her honesty. I am so happy that I get to share my big day with my baby sister as my Maid of Honor!
Mason Maxwell - Best Man
Mason and I became friends when we bonded over some dinosaur toys in preschool. Our friendship has continued to grow through collecting Yu-Gi-Oh! cards in elementary school, winning conference championships in high school football and wrestling, and, now, going on fun adventures with our fiancés. As you can see, this guy has been by my side for as long as I can remember. That's why it is essential for me to have him as a best man on my wedding day. The Milton High School class of 2015 truly got it right when they voted us as the best bromance in the class.
Lindsey Nelson - Bridesmaid
Although I credit Lindsey (and her husband, Hunter) for introducing me to the love of my life, she is also one of my favorite people in the world. Lindsey and I met freshman year when Erika and I decided we should expand our friend group and agreed that the girl across the hall looked very fun. Turns out we were right becuase I can never not have a blast when I'm with Lindz! We got each other through student teaching, early morning college workouts, a few keys locked inside cars (all Lindz), attempting Whole-30, our first years as teachers, weddding planning and everything in between. I can always count on Lindz to make me laugh and let me have a good vent session. I can't imagine my big day without her by my side!
Hunter Nelson - Groomsman
Hunter is by far the most random and spontaneous guy I have ever met. Our friendship began in elementary school, and he has been making me laugh ever since. If you want to hear any funny stories from him on the wedding day, just ask him about the games Blob or High Stakes. Not only did Hunter and Lindsey introduce Regan and I, but they are absolutely fantastic friends that we love to spend time with. We are so excited for them to be in our wedding party!
Erika Hauser Smetana - Bridesmaid
Erika and I became best friends when we went to Northside Preschool together. However, I guess our moms stopped planning playdates together when we went to different elementary schools. Fast forward to my UW Whitewater move-in day in Knilans Hall. My parents and I were loading things into my dorm room when we heard some familiar voices in the hall. Who would happen to be my next door neighbor other than my prescool bestie, Erika! We reunited that day and became immediately insperable. We were roommates the next three years, traveled together to Italy, Peru, and Mexico, thrived as Co-Cookie Bake coordinators for Warhawk Catholic, and were there for each other through everything. I have no doubt that our friendship is one that will last forever. We have an awesome story, but it has only just begun!
Clayton Adamson - Groomsman
Clayton and my relationship got off to a rocky start. In fifth grade, he chose our friend Devin over me as a locker partner. Against all odds, we were able to overcome this egregious decision. In middle school, Mason, Hunter, and I may have spent more weekends at Clayton's house than our own. Whether we were having watermelon fights, playing NHL hockey, or FIFA basketball, we were always having a blast. Even though Clayton lives in Minnesota now, we have managed to stay close. He has been a great friend for a very long time, and I’m honored to have him stand by me on my wedding day.
Madison Sauer - Bridesmaid
Already having two sisters of my own, I never thought I would need another, let alone three! But now, I cannot imagine my life without my three future sister-in-laws! Madison is John's oldest sister. She immediately welcomed me into the McCarthy family and made me feel included. I can always count on Madison to keep me up to date on the news, give great advice, and of course give a killer Karaoke performance. She is also the mama of our first niece! I am honored to call her my sister!
Billy Pitzner - Groomsman
Maggie Lehmann - Bridesmaid
Maggie is John's second oldest sister. I have loved hanging out with Maggie since the first time that we met. She always knows how to have a fun time and gives me the motivation I sometimes need to stay out past 10:00pm and not be a gradma. I am forever grateful to Maggie for forcing John to massage her feet when they were younger because it resulted in me having a fiance who gives the best foot massages after a long day of teaching! Maggie is also getting married this year, and it has been a blast planning our weddings together. I am so excited to have her by my side on my big day!
Thorin Hicks - Groomsman
Aside from our good friend Vandy, Thorin was one of my first friends at Augustana College. He taught me a lot while we were at school. For example, people do not like it when you put turf pellets in their shoes during football practice, no one cares about a horse you road in California named Edgar, and what a torn ACL/ligament in your finger looks like. Additionally, Thorin made the ending to every night in college a mystery. You never knew if our antics would result in us fighting dishes at the end of the night, battling with stubborn Billy and Roemer, love you boys too, or competing for a championship belt. Thorin has always been willing to go along with my ridiculous jokes or actions. He has been a great friend since we met and started talking about an IM soccer championship that we never pursued. I'm so happy for all the memories we made in college and the ones we have to look forward to in the future. Starting with having him by my side on my wedding day.
Kyrie McCarthy - Bridesmaid
Kyrie is John's youngest sister. Kyrie and I became friends effortlessly because of her welcoming personality and her talent as a great conversationalist. I have always admired her devotion to her family. Although she lives in LaCrosse and is busy with school and work, she never hesitates to make the drive to Milton to be there for her siblings and parents. I know she will always be there for John and me! Kyrie is passionate about animals, and I have benfitted from many kitten cuddles and meeting some exotic animals as well. I am honored to have Kyrie by my side!
Myles Maxwell - Groomsman
Before Myles and I became great friends while watching the TV show "How I Met Your Mother", he was just Mason's little brother. He would try to play the Narnia PS2 game with us. He thought he could beat a level we never did, but we all know there's no way he would've been able to do it. He would be the catcher for Mason and my baseball games in the backyard, but he wasn't a great bat boy. The one thing he was great at was helping mason and I become WWE wrestlers.
Now, as I mentioned earlier, Myles and I became friends one day while watching the finale of "How I Met Your Mother". While we watched the end of that series, I realized he was absolutely hilarious, we were both really passionate about weight lifting, we enjoyed listening to classic rock, as well as many other awesome qualities about him. Following that day, we made a bunch of great memories at Boomer's gym, first hour study hall, and being the most macho football players Milton High School has ever seen. I'm very thankful Myles has forgiven Mason and I for beating him up a little back in the day, and I'm even more thankful that he will be standing up at my wedding.
Becca Bixler - Bridesmaid
Becca and I became friends in high school when we discovered our shared motivation to succeed in our classes. We had most of our classes together and got each other through them all. We both had the goal of being Valedictorian of our graduating class, and achieved that goal together. Senior year, I convinced Becca to do the spring musical instead of basketball, and we had a blast performing in Cinderella together. I always have fun when I am with Becca and admire her outgoing personality and ability to talk to just about anyone. I don't get to see Becca as often anymore (she is a busy med student), but whenever we are together, it feels like no time has passed since we last saw each other. I am so grateful to have Becca in my life and by my side on my wedding day!
Mikey Sheets - Groomsman
Mikey Sheets (Tight End) was also on Auguatana's football team, and he was roommates with Thorin feshman year. Hanging out with these two goofballs in college was a blast. Mike and I would have fun making sasquatch jokes, pretending to be doctors for Thorin and Mike's brother-in-law, and he helped me get over Dan bullying me into giving him rides to football practice, love ya Daniel. But, some of the best times came when we left Augustana and visited each other's hometowns. Mike would come up to Wisconsin to boat and fish with my dad while listening to the song "Cut the Cord", and I would head down to Princeville, IL to hangout with him and his friends. The guys in Princeville are one of the closest groups of friends I've ever seen, and I'm so grateful that Mike gave me the opportunity to meet them. Since graduating Mikey, his girlfriend, Lauren, Regan, and I have had a lot of fun getting together when we can. I remember the first time Mike and I told each other about these new women in our lives, and both of us expressed how bright the future looked with each of them.
Mikey has always been there for me in whatever capacity I have needed him. Whether I needed a party after a long week, a fellow Packers fan to watch the Miracle at Mowtown or Randall Cobb take a pass 75 yards for a go-ahead touchdown when the Chicago Bears had a 94.2% chance to win, or simply a great friend, i can always rely on him. I can't imagine this special day without him standing up there with me.
Amanda McCauley - Bridesmaid
Amanda is my brother's wife, but we have been friends since before they were even dating. Amanda and I spent a lot of time together in high school. We were in cheerleading, poms, choir, and the the musicals together. She was a main contributor to breaking me out of my shell from a shy and quiet freshmen to an outgoing and more confident sophomore. Amanda and I became quick friends through all of this, and I could not have been happier that my brother chose her as his wife. We have countless memories from high school, but even better, we have been lucky enough to continue making those memories since. I am so grateful that I can call one of my best friends from high school my sister!
Patrick McCauley - Groomsman
Patrick is Regan's older brother. Hanging out with the McCauley girls is a lot of fun, but when the the family gets together it's nice to know I can talk football or play bags with my new big brother. In all seriousness, Patrick is a great big brother to his younger sisters. He is always there for them when they need assistance with technology or making big decisions. Additionally, he and his wife , Amanda, always create a fun atmosphere when we all get together. I am looking forward to all the parties and fun adventures we go on together. Most importantly, I am excited for my new big brother to stand up with me on this special day!
Sean Gohlke - Honorary Groomsman
Watching Sean lock up a win over Stoughton’s Tyler Dow to advance to the WIAA state wrestling championships is one of my favorite high school memories. I watched Sean work relentlessly to cut weight and improve to accomplish his goals. He has continued to use his impressive work ethic and intelligence to his benefit by becoming an officer in the US Navy. He is obviously not a disappointment to his former teammates, family, or community. I am very excited to have him stand up with me on my wedding day.
