Reggie and Kara share many things in common, including but not limited to faith, family, music and a good dive bar on the weekend. At the top of their list however, belongs their love of sports and competition, which is ultimately what brought them together.
Reggie spent the early part of his career working for Major League Baseball, the Detroit Red Wings and NASCAR. He found himself looking for a new challenge, which led him eventually to the Pittsburgh Penguins - 208 miles closer to home and working for one of the most legendary NHL franchises of all time.
Kara also gained plenty of experience in cross-country moving throughout her career, working for the Red Wings before heading south to Houston to spend 3 seasons with the Astros. After 3 years home was calling, and while Pittsburgh was not an anticipated stop on the journey back north, she had no idea what God had in store.
Meeting for the first time after Kara also started with the Pittsburgh Penguins, Reggie and Kara instantly bonded (or butted heads depending on your stance on college sports affiliations) over MSU v UofM and the historic rivalry between the schools. Their first date was at 'Red Beards' a sports bar in Pittsburgh, to watch Michigan State play Michigan in men's basketball. Which ultimately led to a second "date" (Reggie is smooth that way) since the result of a bet meant Reggie had to cook dinner for Kara. We'll leave the story at that as the result of the basketball game should be obvious at this point...
From then on Reggie and Kara were together almost every day, living in apartments just blocks from each other. Their commonalities allowed them to establish a faith based relationship, overcoming adversity by remembering to point one another to Christ.
Our story now leads us here, as we're both able to return to Michigan to begin our lives with each other and our large family and closest friends. We are committed to many MANY more basketball games, cornhole showdowns, beaches and dive bars in the future.
We have been so blessed in our time together thus far and can't wait to share our happy day with you!
Disclaimer - Reggie and I would like to officially give everyone plenty of time to prepare for the reception. We like to dance....
