Q + A

What should I wear?

We suggest you wear something lake casual for lunch, like a sundress or a linen shirt with flat shoes or sandals. After lunch we have rented kayaks and a pontoon, so plan your attire accordingly. (We suggest sun hats, sun hoodies, and sandals for the water). The park has bathrooms and changing rooms onsite if you prefer to not wear your swimsuit to the park.

What should I bring?

Bring what you would need for a casual lake day! Towel, sunscreen, sun protection, suitable water shoes or flat shoes. The lake were we are is pretty sandy/ rocky and the water is typically very clear. Feel free to bring any water toys, but we will have some floaties and kayaks. Texas gets hot even in September, so Michigan folks keep that in mind. Our water comes from the base of Lake Travis and can be cold even in September, so Texas folks keep that in mind. We will have lawn games for those who chose not to play in the water. Feel free to bring any of your favorites.

What about parking?

Our venue has an entire parking lot onsite, however we run a slight chance of filling the parking lot. We highly encourage folks to carpool Uber, Lyft, or Feti. We have an overflow plan, but would prefer to avoid it. If you plan to drink I strongly encourage you to be mindful that Lakeway cops are notorious for pulling folks over.

What part of town is the wedding in?

The venue is about 5 minutes by car and even closer by boat to our house! If you are unfamiliar with Austin, we are located on the West side of the city in the Hill Country. The wedding is on Lake Austin, right next to Mansfield Dam and Lake Travis. Lakeway (the closest), Bee Cave, and Spicewood are all within 20 minutes. If you are looking to explore Austin we are roughly 35 minutes, without traffic, from downtown. Ubers are easy to find and the drive into the city isn't bad (if you avoid rush hour). Navigating downtown and traffic in this city has its own quirks, so ask us for advice!

Where should I stay?

If you are wanting to stay out by the lakes, the venue, and our house you have several options. We suggest taking a look at Airbnbs or VRBO in Apache Shores or nearby first, as there are a lot of neat properties with lake views. If you are looking for a hotel these are a few close to our venue that are linked in the travel section.

What should I leave at home?

The park prohibits glass onsite and we want to be good stewards of the water, so please leave that at home. Other things to consider leaving at home: high heels, anything super fancy.
