Michigan State University 2018On the first night of her sophomore year at Michigan State, Renee and her friend Cassidy Karlin decided to stop by the fraternity where Josh—then a senior, laid claim to. Renee approached Josh and said, “I didn’t know there were any Jews in this house.” Without missing a beat, Josh smiled and replied, “You’re looking at him.”&nbsp;Renee &amp; Josh's first date was in downtown Detroit where Josh took Renee ice skating &amp; to sushi. They made their relationship official on November 28th, 2018. Chicago &amp; Jersey CollideBy December 2018, Renee flew to New Jersey to spend New Year’s Eve with Josh and meet his family. Upon seeing her roll in with a suitcase the size of a small car, Josh’s mom, Nancy, exclaimed, “OMG, how long are you planning on staying?!” Not to be outdone, Josh made his way to Chicago in March 2019 to meet Renee’s family. There, Renee’s mom, Robin, welcomed him by saying, “You know, we already have a wedding ring for you—just in case!” Meanwhile, her dad, Marc, casually added, “I went to high school with your mother… it’s possible we dated!”It was at that moment that Renee and Josh realized they had two options: run for the hills—or realize that both sets of parents had their quirks! Thankfully, they chose the latter—and the rest is history. Long Distance (2019-2021)Fast forward to the spring of 2019 and Josh graduated Michigan State University becoming the very successful businessman that he is, while Renee, now a junior, began to rise the ranks of Pi Beta Phi, Top Sorority, Michigan State. The two, now madly in love, would fly across the country once a month to visit each other in Jersey, Michigan, and Chicago. Nothing could stop these two high ranking Greek life members. Chicago (2021-2025)On September 4th, 2021, Josh moved from the Jersey Shore &amp; Renee from East Lansing to their first apartment together in downtown Chicago. On September 10th, 2023, not 2 years later, Renee &amp; Josh's relationship ran into its' first rough patch. Aaron Rodgers, quarterback for the New York Jets, tore his achilles and Josh was left devastated. What was promised to Jets fans as the answer to our prayers had all come crumbling down 3 plays into the season. The very next day, Renee returned home from work with a cake and put it down on the table. The cake read, "At least you last longer than Aaron Rodgers". What had been the longest 24 hours of Josh's life had now turned into a complete and utter joke. Jets fans have suffered long enough, and to see that put under his nose felt like the most disrespectful act one could possibly do. The two have since gotten a bernedoodle named after their favorite bar at Michigan State, Harpers, have been to Cabo &amp; Long Beach Island together 10+ times, and have watched Renee's high school classmate, Jalen Brunson, take the Knicks to the postseason time and time again. Josh finds it to be no coincidence that the day Josh &amp; Renee got engaged, Jalen Brunson signed a 4 year extension where he did not exercise his supermax option, saving the Knicks millions. People always say good things come in pairs, and that they did on July 12th, 2024. Proposal (July 12th, 2024)Josh wanted to go all out for his proposal to Renee. He put together a task force to ask Renee in the most perfect way. With the help of Josh's good friends, Jay &amp; Maddy, we convinced Renee to come to an 'influencer event' at 360 Chicago on the night of July 12th. Upon arriving to the Hancock Building, Renee and Maddy would go get drinks for the 4 of us, while Josh and Jay initiated the plan. Josh waited for Renee on one knee where she would have to enter the room through a trail of flowers, with a crowd of people waiting quietly, leading to Josh on one knee, while the guitarist played Landslide, a song that had meant the world to Josh &amp; Renee. After Renee said yes, all of Josh &amp; Renee's friends and family would come up to the 93rd floor to celebrate with the newly engaged. The weekend followed with an engagement party in Wrigleyville for all to come &amp; celebrate. May 23, 2026Renee and Josh couldn’t be more excited to celebrate the next chapter of their lives with all of you. Each and every one of you has played a meaningful role in their journey, shaping their relationship in ways big and small.And while many of you—especially Seymour Kasper—have made a habit of asking the bride-to-be, “Are you sure you want to marry this guy?” ... I, Josh, the one writing this, can only hope she doesn’t come to her senses before the big day!
