We started out in uniform—both of us working at the Norfolk Sheriff’s Office. At the time, it was just a job and just a friendship. Alex eventually left the NSO, and life pulled us in different directions, but we always stayed in touch.

Fast forward a bit—I was newly single, figuring out my next chapter, and he was selling cars. We decided to meet up, just to catch up. What I didn’t expect was that one hangout would turn into seven straight days of laughter, deep conversations, and more oversharing on my part than I care to admit. It was effortless. It felt like something we’d both been waiting for without realizing it.

From that week on, we were inseparable.........

When I worked, I stayed at his place in Suffolk. When I was off, he made sure I had space to spend quality time with my son. It was a rhythm that worked. A balance that felt natural. And even though neither of us said it right away, I knew within a month—this was my person.

It wasn’t all easy. I came with baggage. Real life doesn’t pause for new love. But through it all, Alex was steady. He was patient, understanding, and present in a way I’d never experienced before.

I was also lucky to have incredible friends like Laurie Wood and Gavin Dees, who welcomed me and my son into their home and gave Alex and me the space to really get to know each other. Those early days—full of support, kindness, and late-night talks—laid the foundation for something lasting.

Eventually, we moved in together with the help of Eric and Lindsey Maldanado. at this point, Alex left Hall Chevy and made his way back to the NSO, bringing our story full circle. The rest, as they say, is history.

But the real turning point came on April 19th, 2025. We were on top of a mountain in Tennessee, staying at the most beautiful Airbnb during what turned out to be one of the best weeks of our lives. Surrounded by nature, peace, and everything that brought us closer, Alex got down on one knee and asked me to be his forever.

I said yes to the man who had already shown up for me in every way that mattered.
