We can’t wait to celebrate our special day with you when we will officially become Mr. and Mrs. Bates, and we couldn't be more thrilled to get the chance to share this special moment with each of you.

Our story begins years ago when Steve and Ria first met. We were always known to each other, our paths crossing here and there, but it wasn’t until a night out in 2018 that everything changed. It was one of those nights where the stars align—or maybe it was just the lighting in the bar—but when we crossed paths, something just clicked. And as they say, the rest is history.

Since that night, we've shared countless adventures together. We’ve travelled to beautiful places, creating memories that we'll cherish forever. We've explored new cities, indulged in local cuisines, and even attempted to speak foreign languages—with varying degrees of success. Let’s just say Steve’s Spanish accent could use a little work. And who could forget our climb up Mount Snowdon? To Steve’s delight and Ria utter dismay, we made it to the top. I can now confidently say that Ria favourite view is from the bottom of a mountain.

Our family is the heart of our story. Steve’s wonderful daughter Maiya and Ria’s equally wonderful daughter Ava have brought so much joy and love into our lives. Watching them grow and bond as sisters has been one of the greatest blessings. And then there’s Buddy, our faithful family pet. Buddy has a special talent for showing up just when snacks are being handed out. He’s a true connoisseur of crumbs.

In 2021, we took the plunge and bought a house together. They say that moving in together is a true test of a relationship, and I’m proud to say we passed—mostly. We’ve turned that house into a home filled with laughter, love, and a few too many DIY disasters. Steve, I still don’t know how you managed to turn assembling a wardrobe into an Olympic sport, but as Ria says she wouldn’t trade those moments for anything.

As we approach the day when we exchange our vows, we will be filled with gratitude. Gratitude for the years we’ve known each other, for that fateful night in March, and for every moment since. We are best friends, each other’s rock, and the love of each other’s life’s. We promise to support each other, to laugh together, and maybe even occasionally Ria lets Steve win a disagreement—though I wouldn’t hold your breath on that last one.
