How We Met - Ricki
Jeremy and I both met on Bumble (sorry mom and dad) back in December 2018. We both swiped right and Jeremy told me after looking at my pictures that I looked like the sweetest person he could ever meet. Little did he know I was ready to talk crap about him graduating from OU and liking Baker Mayfield. However in all reality, it was me who found the nicest and sweetest person I had ever met. We instantly found a common passion, which was sports. Both of us could talk about sports for hours and hours. At any given moment, at least one of us was listening or watching something about sports. I had finally met someone who likes sports as much as me. I’m sure he was thinking the same thing too.
First Date 12/30/2018 - Ricki
We had our first date at the end of December. We met at Legacy Hall, Jeremy is a total saint because I was definitely over 30 minutes late. Whoops! He was sweet enough to actually wait for me in a crowded bar. We stayed there talking until they practically kicked us out. We didn’t even realize that they had already closed. From there we left for Henry's Tavern, since we didn’t want the date to end. Jeremy claims that I did all the talking and he didn’t get much of a word in. If you know me, then you know that’s very possible! I guess he liked what I said because it led to many more dates.
Officially Together 3/3/2019 - Ricki
After a couple of months of going on dates and hanging out all the time, we decided to be officially a couple. I loved that we took our relationship slow in the beginning. We took three months to really get to know each other. We essentially became best friends before officially being in a relationship. I think it was the best thing we could have ever done. We knew we had something special and didn’t want to rush it.
Engaged 3/19/2021 - Jeremy
In the beginning of 2021, vaccines became available to the public and we decided to take a trip for Ricki’s Spring Break. We decided to go to Colorado to see the beautiful scenery and escape Texas for the week. I decided this would be the perfect time to show my love the gorgeous ring I selected in early February. I went into the trip with a vague plan on how I would propose but nothing concrete. I wanted it to be spontaneous for her and for myself. After several days of travel and site-seeing, I decided to propose at the awe inspiring spot of Garden of the Gods in the Colorado Springs area. We had a whole day of activities but it was the perfect place with the most amazing rock formations in the world. As we entered the park, we soon realized that Garden of the Gods was a very popular place. It was very difficult to find parking and a quiet spot for us to be alone. I wasn’t able to appreciate the impressive rock formations because of the rock in my jacket pocket. I was sweating bullets and nervously trying to find a path with a spot to ourselves. After about 15 minutes of walking the crowded paths, we find a tranquil spot in front of a rock formation in the shape of a hand with a finger pointing to the sky. It must have been a hand praying to God to give me courage to propose that second. Well maybe not, I first had a mini panic attack before I could mutter any words. My first words involved me saying I felt ill and “I better get this over with”, which as you would expect, confused Ricki. After those smooth lines, I quickly fell to one knee and said the famous words “Will you marry me?”. I might be in the record books for the fastest to go from the “yes” to a hug because I was so relieved and happy to have it completed. We had a very long embrace and tears of joy to celebrate what had happened. We had the luck of no cell phone service when trying to contact our families. It took several failed phone calls and Facetime videos to show off the gorgeous ring. To celebrate, we went on a cave tour at Cave of the Winds, which turned out to be the Haunted Cave Tour. Ricki was not happy about that detail that I might have missed. Don't worry she didn't stay mad for too long!
