Unbeknownst to us, our love story began July 2019 in Baltimore, MD, where fate (and a little bit of strategic planning) brought us together through the Urban Teachers program. Assigned to the same summer site, and later hired at the same school together, we quickly became colleagues, then friends, then two teachers navigating the highs and lows of the classroom together. Little did we know, those early days of lesson planning would lay the foundation for something much greater.

In 2022, what started as a friendship turned into something undeniable. By December 23rd of that year, we made it official, even though it meant embarking on a long-distance relationship. Within six months, we knew we wanted to build a future together in the same place, so we set our sights on Atlanta, GA, where we now proudly call home.

Then, on January 11, 2025, in front of friends, family, and a room filled with laughter, Rickisa finally popped the question—a moment that perfectly captured the joy, love, and partnership that defines us. Now, as we prepare to say "I do," we are beyond grateful for every lesson, every mile, and every moment that brought us here.
