Our Wedding

Oh what a beginning story we have. It started with both of us going to college at Western Washington University in 2013. Prior to us dating (almost a year), I (Dakota) was in the common area of the dorm room on Halloween where I saw many people coming and going. One of those people was Ricky, who was dressed like Marty McFly from Back to the Future, and if anyone knows me, they know that is my favorite movie, so I was instantly charmed. Or at least curious who this person was who appeared to share the same love for Michael J Fox as I did. However, I didn't say anything and Ricky didn't say anything and so, I figured I would never see him again. Well, fast forward to about May 2014 and my dorm room neighbor had acquired a large group of friends in the dorms and shared with me that they were going to Sasquatch! which is a music festival in Washington at The Gorge (remember this for later). I also was going but had planned to meet a childhood friend there and really just needed a ride and a tent to sleep in. This friend shared contact info of the people I could go with, so I hitched a ride and off we went! Upon getting to Sasquatch! I saw the face of Marty McFly for the first time since Halloween. We started chatting and shared the artists we were excited to see, including Rodriguez, among others. And then, I spent the majority of that weekend with my friend except to sleep, so I really didn't see Ricky much. One of the days there, I had got lost from the people I was with and realized that Rodriguez would be playing and that I knew (well sorta knew) someone who was going to be there, so I started heading that way. However, on my way to the stage, out of the blue, the friend I had gone to Sasquatch with (shout out Morgan) so beautifully emerged from a crowd on in the middle of a field and we were reunited. So unfortunately, I did not see Ricky until I would go back to camp. After Sasquatch! I was packing up to move from the dorms into my first apartment when, low and beyond, Ricky walks by my door. He shouted "wow, you exist!" and we chatted about our summer plans. And once again, he was gone. Later that summer, Ricky and I happened to start texting and eventually went on one date...then two...then three and finally became more serious when I decided to go to India for two months. At this point, we became official in September of 2014 (omg we were babies!!) and the rest is history!

When We First Met

Remember how earlier I said remember the Gorge, well that is where we got engaged. On July 14, 2024, Ricky and I headed to the Gorge to go see Blink 182 - you see, I had bought him tickets to the show for Christmas so we made a trip out of it. When we got there, we dropped off our things at the hotel and decided to go to a winery right next to the Gorge. In all of our years of attending Sasquatch!, both of us did not really explore the Columbia River and I had found that this winery had a nice trail down to the river, so we thought we should go. We got to the winery and started walking down toward the river. We had already dressed up for the show and it was about 100 degrees outside AND the trail was a bit long, so we decided to walk toward the end of the property where there was a lovely view. We started taking pictures and admiring the view, and then, bam! Ricky was on one knee asking me to marry him (and obviously I said yes). We then got to celebrate with some wine and a show at the place we met 10 years prior. It was beautiful and more than a girl could've asked for.

If you would like to take the shuttle, it will pick people up from the hotel (Hampton Inn &amp; Suites Boulder) at 4pm. The shuttle will then bring people back from the venue, to the hotel at 9pm, 10pm, and 11pm.
