Seth and I met when we were both freshmen in the Perry Cafeteria on Mississippi State's campus in 2018. We became fast friends, as he was always a joking, smiling face on campus! We were friends for six years (and he asked me out three times) before we actually started dating! Talk about pursuit!
Seth flew into Jackson, MS from his year-long deployment in Kuwait in March of this year, and we have been inseparable since. Our dating phase has been jammed-packed with adventure: several long roadtrips, hiking, camping, weddings, and even Seth teaching me how to run and us winning the first 5k we ran together!
My favorite time in our dating period was this past summer when Seth and I co-lead a week-long mission trip to Mazatlan, Mexico. Seth had been traveling for several weeks in a row and developed a double-ear infection. Seth was so committed to our team and the mission that he would sleep on the busses, wake up, do incredible translating from English to Spanish, get back on the bus and sleep, only to repeat again at the next location. In this, I see both his love for God and his grit and determination.
Seth grew up sailing and proposed to me after "a sailing lesson" in Ocean Springs, MS. I didn't even say "yes," but instead nodded my head profusely up-and-down because I was so in shock! We are so excited to become one and spend the rest of our lives together praising God.
Riley and I first met in The Perry cafeteria at Mississippi State our freshman year, 2018. She told me she wanted to go to a date party, and thank God, I happened to need a date! I invited her, we had a wonderful time, and quickly became fast friends. For three years we grew closer as friends until one day I realized I was an idiot for not seeing her as more than a friend! I asked her out, and the rest is history… except she turned me down. For the next two years we remained friends with biannual date invites courtesy of me. Finally, while I was deployed, Riley came to the same realization I did two years prior! We began dating at long last, and a short six years from the day we first became friends, I asked her to marry me. Here we are today, praising God together that we get to continue this relationship and our friendship for the rest of our lives!
