What is the best way to get to Rapid City?
Rapid City Regional Airport (RAP) is the closest major airport. From there, it’s about a 30-60 minute drive to most areas in the Black Hills. Car rentals and shuttles are available at the airport, but we recommend renting a car if you plan to explore the area. We suggest booking your flights sooner rather than later, as prices tend to increase quickly.
Where is the Wedding located?
Diamond Spur Events Center is located at
23826 Mill Iron Drive
Rapid City, SD 57702.
The venue is located near the junction of Hwy 16 and 385 at Three Forks Junction just 4 miles north of Hill City, South Dakota. Please note, that deer and wildlife are abundant in the area, use caution when driving.
Can I bring a plus one?
Due to the intimate size of our venue, we can only accommodate guests who are formally listed on your wedding invitation. If you’ve been given a plus one, their name will appear under yours when you RSVP. We appreciate your understanding!
What does semi-formal or cocktail attire mean?
For semi-formal or cocktail attire, ladies can wear cocktail dresses, dressy jumpsuits, or skirts and blouses. Men can wear dress pants or nice jeans with a dress shirt, paired with a tie or blazer. Feel free to bring comfortable shoes for exploring the beautiful surroundings after the ceremony!
Will the wedding ceremony be indoors or outdoors?
The ceremony is planned for an outdoor setting, weather permitting. We have an indoor option in case of inclement weather, but please be prepared for an outdoor celebration just in case. The cocktail and reception will be held indoors.
What is the expected weather?
April in the Black Hills is a mix of spring and lingering winter, so expect cool and sometimes unpredictable weather. Daytime temperatures are usually mild, averaging around 50-60°F, but evenings can drop into the 30s. Snow is still possible, especially in higher elevations, so we recommend bringing a warm layer, like a coat or shawl, for comfort during the ceremony or any outdoor portions of the celebration.
What time should we arrive?
We recommend arriving 30 minutes before the ceremony starts to allow time for seating and to take in the beautiful scenery.
Are there any accommodations you recommend?
Yes! Under the "accommodations" tab, you’ll find a selection of hotels and cabins within 5 miles of the venue. The Black Hills area also offers a range of unique Airbnb and cabin options for a more personalized experience. If you're looking for even more choices, downtown Rapid City is just 28 miles away and has a wide variety of hotels as well.
What activities can we do around the Black Hills area?
The Black Hills area is known for its incredible scenery and outdoor activities! You can visit iconic landmarks like Mount Rushmore and Custer State Park, hike in the Black Hills National Forest, or explore charming towns like Deadwood and Hill City.
