Note: the annual Marine Corps Marathon will be held on Sunday, October 26th. Please prepare your travel arrangements accordingly if you plan to depart this day before mid-afternoon. The Marathon route runs along the Potomac across DC and Northern Virginia; travel to Reagan National Airport will likely be disrupted.
Washington, DC is quite convenient to travel to/from!
Those flying to the DMV (DC, Maryland, Virginia) region choose among three airports: Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA), Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD), and Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI).
DCA is by far the most convenient; it connects to the metro's blue and yellow lines, and is a 15-20 minute drive from our venue (pro tip: hailing a taxi from DCA can be faster and is usually cheaper than rideshare apps). IAD connects to the metro's silver line, and trains connect BWI to Union Station.
The District is also served by major bus and train lines. From Union Station guests can board the metro's red line, call a car, or jump on a city bus.
Those driving in will enjoy the views on I-95 S, I-95 N , I-66 S, or US-50 W (we're looking at you yanks, rednecks, cowboys, and crab people, respectively & respectfully). Then I-495 ("The Beltway") will spit you out into the DMV.
While rental car, taxi, and rideshare services are available, you don't need a car to visit DC! Most of the major tourist attractions in the District and Northern Virginia are easily accessible by foot or public transportation.
Both the Metro and Circulator Bus now accept tap-and-go credit card/phone payments in addition to physical SmarTrip cards. The LINE DC hotel in Adams Morgan is a 15-20 minute walk from the Columbia Heights, U Street, DuPont Circle, and Woodley Park metro stations (to the North, East, South, and West respectively). Metrobus Routes 42, 43, L2, 90, 92, and 96 buses also stop within a block of the LINE DC hotel.
The city is extremely bikable with an affordable public bike-sharing program called Capital Bikeshare as well as private bicycle and scooter services and plenty of bike lanes.
