Love Trumps All

In a hand of bid whist, where the cards were shuffled, their hearts found a winning hand, sealing the beginning of a love story. In December 2020, we played a hand of Bid Whist online, and I beat the opposing players. So, then my opponent Rob claimed I was cheating, yet that didn’t stop him from wanting to get to know me. We exchanged numbers and spoke for months over the phone before we physically met. Then, after conversing over the phone, we decided to meet in Maryland. We saw each other every day while I was visiting my best friend in Virginia. In May 2021, we made it official and began to date, and Rob brought his mom and kids to Ohio to meet my family. Our kids met for the first time, and it was exciting. After our families met, we would meet every weekend in Maryland or Ohio until I officially moved to Maryland. In August 2021, I formally moved to Maryland, and there were a lot of challenges. We rented a house together for a year, then purchased a home the following year. In November 2023, we were engaged, and now we are planning our wedding to exchange our vows in Maryland while surrounded by our supportive family and friends.

As we prepare to stand hand in hand, ready to embark on this grand adventure called marriage, the echoes of our first bid whist game resonate in our hearts, reminding us that in love, as in cards, the best hands are crafted with patience, trust, and joy of shared victories. May our journey together be as exciting and full of surprises as the game that brought us together. Here’s to a lifetime of love, laughter, and endless joy of playing the ultimate game of life side by side.
