Brandi and Robert’s story began at the Averitt Center for the Arts, where their paths first crossed—Brandi as the Development Director and Robert as the Technical Director. At the time, neither was looking for love, but fate (and some well-meaning friends) had other plans. As subtle nudges from their circle of friends grew, Brandi remained unaware of what was right in front of her—until one ordinary conversation changed everything. While chatting with her office mate, he casually asked what she thought of Robert. In that instant, it hit her like a bolt of lightning—she did want to know him better. Channeling Tombstone, she simply replied, “I want one.” Her officemate’s response? “Happy hunting.” Their friendship deepened over weekly Walking Dead watch parties at a mutual friend’s house, where playful flirting turned into stolen moments of laughter and quiet cuddles. Then, one night, Brandi invited Robert to join her and a friend at a local bar. When the friend left, the two of them closed down the place, only to continue their conversation in her car until the early morning hours. After months of flirtation and unofficial dates, the turning point came on a celebratory trip to Savannah after the Arts Center’s annual Nutcracker performance. Surrounded by friends at Kevin Barry’s Irish Pub on River Street, they shared their first kiss—and from that moment on, they were a couple. Many thought their relationship was just a rebound, but Brandi and Robert knew better. Over time, they became each other’s closest friend and confidante, a steady rhythm in one another’s lives. Then, on December 21, 2023, in the quiet beauty of his garden, Robert asked Brandi to marry him.Brandi says Robert provides a rhythm that keeps the dance of her life in tempo, while for Robert, Brandi is the balancing voice that shares his thoughts and passions. Together, they share a love of old things built to last—and that is exactly what they are building together: a love meant to stand the test of time.

Before making your reservations at Highland Lake Inn &amp; Resort, please review the information below. There are a number of room options. You can check them all out at the <a href="https://hliresort.com/accommodations/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">resort's accommodation page</a>. Terms &amp; Conditions 1. The Cottages require a 2-nightminimum stay, including Friday and Saturday.2. Friday and Saturday must always be booked together.3. The room block will be held until August 15, 2025 for individuals to call for reservations. Guest may call 828.693.6812 to make reservations usingthe group book id #20712.4. To reserve a room from the group block, individuals are required to give a deposit equal to one night’s lodging anda credit card number. Cottages require 50% of the lodging total.5. Check in is no earlier than 4:00 PM on the arrival date, and checkout is no later than 11:00 AM on the departuredate.6. Property Quiet Hour is 11:00 PM – 8:00 AM.7. Rates for the Lodge, Woodward House and Cabin Rooms include our Fabulous Full Southern Country BreakfastBuffet each morning at our Season’s Restaurant. Since our Historic Poolside Cottages offer a kitchen, their rates donot include breakfast. Restaurant and Housekeeping gratuities are NOT included in our lodging rates.8. Smoking is not allowed in any guest rooms or in any indoor facility at Highland Lake Inn. Disregard of this policy willresult in a minimum fee of $200 per occurrence that will be automatically charged to the individual guest.9. Pets are allowed only in designated cottages with limitations. If there is any evidence of a pet in any otheraccommodations, will result in a $200.00 per day fee.10. Housekeeping Services are by request only and require a 24 hour notice. There are additional cleaning fees forrequests made by guests staying in the Historic Poolside Cottages.12. CREDIT CARD PAYMENTS: There is a nonrefundable processing fee of 3% for all group charges made to aVisa/MasterCard/Discover, 4% for AMEX. This fee is waived if the guest pays by check.
