We had known each other and been good friends for over a decade, but our first official date was watching a screening of the movie Scream at the historic Artcraft Theater in Franklin, Indiana.

A month later, we took a trip to Days of the Dead in Chicago to meet some of our favorite horror celebrities.

On New Year’s Eve, we went to the Indiana Historical Society to tour the Festival of Trees and ended up walking all around the canals and White River State Park.

We had a romantic carriage ride around Indianapolis and started the new year off together.

Our first Valentine’s date: Hibachi and a bad movie based on a good book (Knock at the Cabin)!

HorrorHound Weekend in Cincinnati! We had worked together at events before, but this was our first time doing it as a couple!

In April, we went off to Virginia for a romantic getaway. We toured Jamestown, Yorktown, and Colonial Williamsburg. We even got to stand where Pocahontas got married. It was here that we realized we had something truly special!

July 4th weekend, we had our first “family outing,” and together, we took our youngest children to the Indianapolis Zoo.

Going to music festivals, horror conventions, book events, movies… it didn’t matter what we did. Life was just better when we were together.

We celebrated a whole year of being together and we knew that we never wanted it to end!

In Disney Studios in Orlando, Florida, in the shadow of the Muppets Theater, we officially got engaged to be married.

And just like a Disney couple, we know that we are simply meant to be! ❤️
