What's the dress code?
Get your geek on! The nerdier the better. The happy couple will be doing Star Wars cosplay and encourage you all to use this as an early halloween party.
What are your favorite fandoms?
Between the two of us, we like:
Fallout, Jurassic Park, Detroit Become Human, Broadway, HellDivers2, StarWars, CyberPunk, Dungeons & Dungeons, assorted anime, et cetera
Can we bring our kids?
We encourage this time to be for adults to celebrate. Children below 16 might get overwhelmed and get tuckered out early into the night. We kindly request that anyone younger than 16 have a babysitter at home since there is no babysitting service at the venue. Robin is prolific in swearing and inappropriate themes may be joked about. We would rather not have little Johnny learning new words, so we thank you for your patience on the matter.
Can I bring a plus one?
Reach out to us! We want to ensure that you're comfortable and will do our best to accommodate. We need to ensure your guest is fed though, so we encourage RSVP'ing by the noted date to have your date.
Will there be an open bar?
You can pre-game, but please don't show up drunk. You can have a personal after party. We will not be serving alcohol during the reception. Many of our friends are service members working through their sobriety journey and weddings can be a place where peer pressure is hell. We love our friends and want to ensure that the pressure is alleviated for them.
Why Michigan? Don't you live in Hawaii?
Michigan is a safe state for our queer friends and family. Traveling to Michigan is also cheaper than going to Hawaii. Being stateside makes it easier for friends and family to join us.
What's a 'hand fasting ceremony'?
A 'hand fasting ceremony' is from Irish pagan tradition to bind the couple together. This is where we get the phrase 'tying the knot'. This ceremony is included to honor the bride's ancestry and the spouse's pagan habits. You will also notice peafowl feathers in the bouquets for Hera. If you have comments, direct them to Robin.
