Travel times, especially from LAX, may increase considerably during times of peak traffic (2pm-7pm). The drive from San Diego has the least winding mountain roads, and the drive from Palm Springs has the most.

The campground is only 15 minutes from Idyllwild-Pine, where there are cute inns and lodges. You could also consider getting an AirBNB in the area. Please plan for mountain roads if you will be driving as there are no rideshare services in the area.
