Our Story

Chapter One: Before We Met

Robyn was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut and raised in Weston, Connecticut. She is the younger daughter of Marlene and Mark. Robyn went to Union College in Schenectady, New York. She majored in Economics, was a member of Sigma Delta Tau sorority, was the President of the Economics Club, and was a four-year varsity crew member. (No, Robyn was not the coxswain. She rowed in the bow, seat number 8. Robyn made up in power and spirit what she lacked in height!) After growing up in suburbia, Robyn moved directly to Manhattan after college graduation and started her career in investment management. Years later, Robyn completed her Masters in Business Administration at Touro Graduate School of Business in Manhattan. One of Robyn's passions and side hustle is volunteering and working with with charitable organizations including leadership positions with the Friends of the Israel Defense Forces and the Council for Young Jewish Presidents. Robyn sits on the Board of Directors of Bottomless Closet, an organization that helps disadvantaged NYC women get back to work, and Strength to Strength, an organization that helps global victims of terrorism and their families. Robyn is also a member of the JFNA Young Leadership Cabinet.

David was born in Albany, New York and raised in Clifton Park, New York. David is the third of four children of Lewis and Phyllis. David went to Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia and majored in Chemistry and attended Dental School at the SUNY at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine. After completing his dental education, David moved back to Saratoga Springs NY and has been enjoying partnering with his father in their dental office, Morrison Dental Care. David quickly became heavily involved in the Jewish Federation of Northeastern NY, serving on the Board of Directors, Endowment Board of Directors, and a many year term as Chair of NextDor, the young leadership division. David is also a member of the JFNA Young Leadership Cabinet and currently serves as co-Vice-Chair for Membership.

Chapter Two: When We Met

The short story is that David and Robyn met through their mutual friend Stacy.

The longer version is a bit more involved....

Robyn met Stacy in May of 2014 when she traveled to Morocco with the JDC. They became friends fast through the adventure. David met Stacy the same year at Tribefest in Las Vegas, an event produced by JFNA.

On March 21st, 2016, Stacy introduced Robyn and David through Facebook Messenger. Stacy's message was thinly veiled and asked David to help Robyn with her application for JFNA's National Young Leadership Cabinet. David and Robyn are super grateful for Stacy's less than stellar command of New York State geography: as a Texan, she though Manhattan (Robyn) and Saratoga Springs (David) were pretty much nearby neighbors, not a 3 hour drive.

It took over a month before David fabricated an excuse to be in New York City for a weekend so they could meet (A couple weeks of international travel and Passover got in the way). During David and Robyn's texting courtship, Robyn shared her SoulCycle obsession and suggested the two go together when he finally made it to New York City. David had heard of SoulCycle from his cousin Danielle and was curious.

Robyn and David's first date was a Madonna themed SoulCycle ride complete with at least two costume changes by Ryan the instructor. Robyn admits it was a risky move but certainly a risk worth taking. David and Robyn survived their first ride together, along with the subsequent four hour dinner, and managed to sneak in two more dates in the next two days before David headed back to Saratoga Springs.

SoulCycle even wrote a story about Robyn and David! https://www.soul-cycle.com/community/inspiration/t...

The rest is history ...

Chapter Three: How We Fell In Love

Sometimes you just know, when it is right it is right, and love comes quickly. Two weeks after Robyn and David's first date the pair spent a Memorial Day weekend exploring Manhattan and both went home knowing their lives had been changed forever. Text messages soon became phone conversations which quickly became FaceTime chats.

The distance turned out to be a minimal barrier for Robyn and David. Every weekend became an adventure! Trips to Miami, New Orleans, San Francisco, and Denver. Getaways to Poughkeepsie and Manchester. Time spent relaxing (finishing an MBA) in Saratoga. Days spent in New York City watching Yankee Games, rides at SoulCycle, running through Brooklyn, and slowly setting up a new apartment.

As they fell in love with either other, Robyn and David also fell in love with each other's family and friends.

Chapter Four: Where We Got Engaged

David proposed to Robyn in Florence, Italy. Everybody else, except Robyn, had a feeling it was going to happen.

Little did Robyn know that David picked up the engagement ring across the street from her office just minutes after she left for work, and just hours before they were boarding the plane to Italy.

On the couple's second day in Italy, they toured the city of Florence including hours spent gasping at the stunning art and sculptures at the Uffizi Gallery and Michelangelo's David at the Galleria dell'Accademia, eating paninis on the street for lunch, and later stopping for a Prosecco and Mozzarella break, the day could not have been more romantic and magical. Thereafter the two wandered through the streets of Florence. Robyn, feeling a drunken love, pulled David into a small alley for a kiss. Robyn told David how happy she was. The couple struggles to remember the exact conversation that resulted in their engagement but it went something like this: David responded to Robyn saying how happy he was, too; how crazy in love he is with her; and how it was the kind of happy he wanted to be forever. When Robyn agreed, David asked "Like marry me happy?" Robyn said "Sure, I will marry you happy! "When David answered and asked, "Honey, will you marry me?", Robyn finally realized what was happening, and of course, she said "Yes".

Chapter Five: Now We Live Happily Ever After

Robyn and David are beyond thrilled to share their wedding celebration with you. Their family and friends are the most important thing in the world, outside of each other. They look forward to the countless simchas and tears they will share with those they love.
