The Willamette Heritage Center connects generations through gathering, preserving, and sharing Mid-Willamette Valley history. A visit to our site is a step back in time. Our five-acre property is home to fourteen historic structures that vividly weave together the story of the Mid-Willamette Valley and the development of today’s diverse communities through permanent and changing exhibits, a research library and archive, a textile learning center
The first two floors of the Thomas Kay Woolen Mill building are a museum devoted to telling the story of woolen processing, on its journey from fleece to fabric. Visitors can view machinery used for carding, spinning and weaving wool on the 2nd Floor. The Finishing Room tells the story of burling and mending, fulling, napping, shearing and final inspections.
Experience work and life in what was once a leading textile factory in Oregon, the legacy of which is continued today by Pendleton Woolen Mills.

Great menu and awesome drinks. The brussels are a definite must!
Our venue only allows wine/beer service.
Arrive before The Spinning Room/Event Space opens to pop by and check them out!
A true Salem childhood staple, & a great trip back in time for adults.

The Enchanted Forest is a family owned and operated Theme Park set on a hill in a beautiful forest setting in Oregon. Roger Tofte, creator, had a vision and embarked on many years of hard work to fulfill his dream. After 7 years of building, one bag of cement a t a time, the first section, Storybook Lane, opened in 1971.
In addition to Storybook Lane, the park has grown to include the Tofteville Western Town, Old European Village, Water-light show, Haunted House, Comedy Theatre, adult and children's rides, gift shops, restaurants and The Gathering Hall (Home to the Possibly Irish band) + more.
There are many great restaurants to explore in Downtown Salem and beyond. Here is list of a few options near and dear to us for one reason or another!

Amazing food and who doesn't want GELATO!?!?
It doesn't get any more authentically Italian/Sicilian than this. The owners moved to the US about 10 years ago and have been providing top tier cuisine the entire time!

Unique and wonderful finds.
Aurora was Oregon’s first National Historic District (1856) when Wilhelm Keil brought his followers over the Oregon Trail from Missouri.
Today many of the historic buildings are filled with antique and specialty shops. The town is an international destination for antiques and vintage goods as well as a source for interior designers and movie and television producers. From furniture to jewelry, pottery to architectural salvage, books to records, vintage home decorations to old tools, Aurora has a huge selection of authentic and unusual finds!
The history and artifacts of the Aurora Colony have been preserved and are on display at the Old Aurora Colony Museum located in the center of the historic downtown area.
Room after room after room, 3 floors with a separate bonus 2 floor store in the back. Takes a good hour+ to get through if you're lucky.
