Ty and Rosie enrolled at Truman State University all the way back in 2012, but their Kirksville paths did not cross until their senior year.

Ty was the director of the TSU Herpetarium, and Rosie was a tour guide for prospective students. On occasion, a prospective science major would ask to see the Reptile Room, and Rosie would coordinate a visit with the tour group and Ty. Rosie recalls, “I didn’t remember his name on those tours, but definitely remember that smile and those eyes when he wowed his guests // me!”

During their final semester at Truman, Rosie and Ty and about 70 other students enrolled in a quintessential liberal arts class: Guitar Teaching 101 for the Elementary School Teacher. Neither Ty nor Rosie had any interest teaching guitar to kiddos, but they both love music and wanted to learn the instrument every Wednesday and Friday of that spring semester.

Each class started with a scramble of students grabbing chairs and a music stand, and by the third class, Ty snagged a seat next to Rosie. Ty remembers, “I recognized her as that brilliant tour guide and knew I had to introduce myself right away.” Ty then asked Rosie if they could be music stand partners for the class, guaranteeing they would share their guitar playing experience. Eight years later, Ty and Rosie are still partners and sharing their whole life experience 💜

After sharing a few additional universities, interstate moves, new careers, a pandemic, their Aristocats, and lots of joy, Ty and Rosie are thrilled to celebrate their love with you on their Wedding Day!
