It all started with a boy named Hudson and a girl named Rose, who met by chance at Missouri S&T in 2022. Both lived in the CCF housing, but Rose had actually noticed Hudson the summer before on a float trip—where she quickly developed a little crush on him. (Of course, she didn’t act on it because he was a freshman and she was a sophomore—LOL.)

As the fall semester began, their paths started crossing more often—at the fall retreat (where Rose made her first sarcastic, flirty comment about Hudson’s hair, only to later find out he wasn’t a fan of her reference—oops), game nights, dinners in the dining hall, and intramural games. They even played on the same co-rec football team, where Rose quickly realized that she loved football—or maybe, she just loved playing football with Hudson.

From that point on, their friendship grew. They spent countless nights playing pool together with friends, but Rose always made sure to stick around with Hudson the longest. However, Hudson remained oblivious to the fact that she liked him—despite her very obvious (to everyone else) willingness to play pool with him for hours. Luckily, their friend Hunter saw exactly what was going on and started questioning it. That’s when Hudson’s eyes were finally opened—he realized Rose actually liked him and that he wasn’t just imagining things and could make his move.

The flirting continued, leading up to one bold moment at the Thanksgiving banquet. Hudson’s roommate, Logan, decided to take matters into his own hands, walked up to Rose, and asked, “What are your intentions with my roommate?” Caught off guard and very intimidated, Rose tried to play it cool, not wanting to give herself away in case Hudson wasn’t actually interested. But Logan reassured her, saying if she was interested, she had nothing to worry about and that she should ask Hudson out on a date. Rose hesitated to ask him out because she felt it would be unusual for her to ask Hudson out -she wanted him to take the lead.

Back to the story... that was all Rose needed to hear—she couldn’t stop smiling for the rest of the night! She could barely wait to leave the banquet and rush back to the WCCH to tell her friends the good news. But before she even made it to her car, Hudson had already texted her. He told her he had heard what Logan said and wanted to ask her out before she could beat him to it. (AWWW—so sweet! )

The very next day, Hudson took Rose on their first official date to El Maguey, a great Mexican restaurant in Rolla. From then on, they spent their time going on dates, talking for hours, and growing closer. And on December 14, 2022, Hudson officially asked Rose to be his girlfriend!

From that moment on, they were happily in love, navigating life together and learning what it means to build a Godly relationship.
