Rose & Peter

In the beginning...

It all began at a Powerpoint night - when Josh and Grace looked at Peter and mused on whether or not he and Rose would be good together. After a long interrogation/Q&A, phone numbers were exchanged and, after a long delay, we agreed on a coffee date at The Harbor. The rest, as they say, is history.

Conversation and Prayer

Due to Peter moving back to Iowa at the end of the internship he had in Lincoln, the early days of our relationship were carried out via phone calls. Long phone calls. Where we talked about anything and everything. In addition to conversing, we prayed the Rosary with one another nearly every night. Through our dialogues with each other and with God, our fondness for each other began to deepen.

Where God closes a door, He always opens a window.

Despite how close we grew together and how well we knew each other through our conversations over the phone, we both missed the ability to be in person with one another and have shared experiences. That all changed when Peter unexpectedly had the location of his final internship moved from Peoria, IL to Omaha, NE. This blessed surprise enabled us to spend every weekend together - sharing time with Rose's family, going on (surprise) coffee dates, and reveling in the joy of being physically present with one another.

The Engagement

We had been talking about marriage for some time and Peter had already bought the ring prior to his internship in Omaha. Shortly after the unexpected and successful end to his final internship, Peter knew when and where he was going to ask Rose to be his wife - on Sunday, March 17th in the St. Joseph's Oratory inside the Newman Center. St. Patrick's Day was the same day Peter's dad proposed to his mom and the Newman Center was a place that formed Rose personally, scholastically, and spiritually, as well as the place we had talked about getting married.

What God has joined together, let no man put asunder.

And now here we are - counting down the days until we join our lives together as one forever. Both of us could not be happier and more filled with gratitude at the sheer goodness of Our Father. We know challenges and hard roads lie ahead, but the deep faith we share in God the Father will help assuage us in times of suffering and help us revel in the times of joy. We want to thank everyone whom God has put in our lives to shape us into the people we are today. We are so excited to celebrate with you all!
