On a cold January evening, Dan hopped in his iconic 1991 Chevy Caprese to go meet his now-fiancé. In preparing to write this story, Ruby attributes their 3-hour long date to her witty sense of humor. Dan attributes it to the fact that he had to drive an hour to get to the restaurant, so he might as well get his gas money's worth (frugal king). This long-distance driving would prove to be a staple in their relationship and a proof of one another's commitment, both parties having to drive an hour from their respective houses when they wanted to see each other. During one of these visits, Dan showed his continued attentiveness by fixing Ruby's car whilst freezing in a snowstorm. This is one of the first moments that Ruby recognized how thoughtful and diligent Dan was. Together, they decided that no matter how hard the distance made it, they were committed to one another and would do anything to make it work.

Then, in the summer of 2021, Dan moved to Kansas City and closer to Ruby. There, the relationship blossomed even further. The year and a half spent in Kansas City was spent exploring the city, playing a lot of Mario Kart, and eating all the weird Asian foods they could get their hands on. Ruby met Dan’s family, Dan meet Ruby’s. The couple spent a lot of time with Ruby’s cooler and wiser older sister, Jewel, who also gave her approval of Dan, someone who she now sees as a (big) brother and long-time friend.

In October of 2022, Dan surprised Ruby at one of their favorite spots, a pumpkin patch. Dan wanted to pay respect to their love of the season of fall, and carved an image of a ring into a pumpkin. On this fateful day, Dan recited a lengthy speech of love and adoration, and asked Ruby to marry him. Ruby, tears streaming, obviously said yes, and here we are now!

The couple is now living in Wichita and can be found any time of the day playing with their cat, Onyx, or competing with one another in a video game. The couple wants to thank everyone who is visiting this website and has been a part of their love story. More information will be coming soon!
