Our Story

Our Story

City Girl (former LI gal) and Country Boy (former Israeli Solider) meet in the Big Apple. What could these two possibly have in common? Well, it turns out a whole lot! Our desire to help others, our love of travel, our workaholic tendencies and so much more. So many similarities but enough differences to keep it interesting. I love to dance Jacob not so much, but he enjoys watching me dance. Jacob loves to cook but me not so much, but I enjoy eating his food. Our differences have actually contributed to our happiness as much as our similarities have. We have found in each other the true sense of the word Partner. Believing in each other has helped us realize so many of our dreams, having our wedding on our very own beach is just one of them.

In her words

I remember our first date as if it was yesterday. Maybe that’s because we reenact the first time we met almost every time we go to NYC. Me walking down 25th & Lex and Jacob walking up, our eyes locked and that was it. Ok, maybe that’s just how I remember it. But seriously, I knew from that first night that this was a man I wanted to get to know. Date two was also in the City. We walked from my apartment to the restaurant. On our way, we passed a homeless man sleeping on the sidewalk. Jacob commented that his blanket did not look warm (it was November), would I mind if we went and bought him a blanket before dinner? Wow really, of course I didn’t mind. So off we went to BB&B for a blanket. He purchased the blanket, (20% coupon even though we didn’t have a coupon) walked back, covered the man and off to dinner we went. Now I knew I had to get to know this man better. And I did just that. What an adventure it has been. From him swooping in and rescuing me and Travis from the City during Covid (not all heroes wear capes), to traveling the world and everything in between. I would often say “when is the other shoe going to drop” I just couldn’t believe people like Jacob existed. And to my delight it never did! I am ready for our next adventure as Mr. & Mrs. Lavian aka Jason & Suzy

In his words

I never thought this late in my life I would meet someone who could completely change my world in so many wonderful ways. But Ruth did just that. I knew after our first date that I had found my meatball. Was it the way she pushed her food onto her fork with her finger; was it her mouth that is never shy to tell you what's on her mind; or maybe the way she removes her R's from words like Diner (Dina) so she can use them on words like Pizza (Pizzer); or when I told her about cooking for 500 people on Thanksgiving every year and she immediately said "if this doesn't work out can I still volunteer to help you". Well, it's all of those things and so much more. Kind, generous, funny, great mother, friend and partner. Can't wait for this next chapter
