We met at Denny's. He was the overnight waiter who became a good friend when I needed one. We took our kids to the movies and did social things. Eventually, we no longer worked together but still kept our friendship going strong. 5 years ago, it was his turn to go through a nasty split and need a friend. We were drinking in honor of a friend that was no longer with us, and haven't been apart since.
