Ryan and Kelsey first met at the Ada county jail in May 2021. They became friends and Kelsey roped Ryan in to coming out to the Buffalo club frequently with other friends for the next month or two. Eventually the two of them went dancing just the two of them out at Caldwell then later that evening found themselves at the parking lot of the Golden Wheel with some California Mexican talking until about four or five in the morning. A few weeks later they decided to make the relationship official to see where things might go.

Not long after, Kelsey moved in with Ryan and his brother Cam out in Kuna. Kelsey eventually switched jobs to St Luke's and Ryan started the patrol academy in January of 2022. In May 2022 Ryan graduated and Kelsey finally convinced him that they needed a puppy. It was the beginning of June when Sammy dog became part of the family. At the end of the year, Ryan, Kelsey and Sammy all moved into a house of their own in Meridian.

Finally, on September 17, 2023, Ryan and Kelsey were on trip to the Oregon Coast with Kelsey's family. Ryan took Kelsey on a walk on the beach as the sun was setting and asked her to marry him.
