Once upon a time,

We met at The University of South Carolina. I (Izzy) was living with my sister Lainey, who at the time was leading a small group in Chi Alpha, a Christian ministry on campus, and her husband was as well. Ryan joined Chi Alpha and was in David's small group, Lainey's Husband. Ryan and I were around each other pretty often but mostly in passing, He would be playing board games with David and other guys in the small group and I would be in and out of my room to get food or to go hang out with my friends. In my Junior year and Ryans' Senior we took a class together, we were taking a class to prepare to lead our own small groups.

In the summer small group leaders are asked if they are interested in going overseas for a missions trip. A group that started out as just under 10 people dropped to 4. I was the only girl on the trip, I was not pleased but by the end of the trip Ryan was smitten and I was ending the trip by telling him and our dear friend Chase, that they were like brothers to me.

As some may know I have struggled with my health for almost two years. Ryan messaged me over the summer every few weeks to check up on me and see how I was doing. He was so kind and so intentional, and I was not interested. My sister as well as the missionaries we stayed with on our trip were asking me when Ryan and I would start dating. Two or three times a week I would get encouraged by my sister. Finally, at the beginning of my senior year, I texted Ryan (I had never started a conversation first until this point) and asked him what his Enneagram was. (He is a 9w8 and I am a 2w3, If you are unfamiliar I would recommend reading the book "The Road Back To You"). We have not stopped talking since.
