When people first find out they met online, their next question is usually about which app they met on. Kayla then sheepishly admits that they didn’t meet on an app. They met on Facebook Dating of all places! Kayla had tried apps like Bumble and Hinge on and off over the years but was in a period of leaning into her singleness. One sleepless night she was scrolling on Facebook and was served an ad for this new thing called ‘Facebook Dating.’ Her curiosity got the better of her and she created a dummy account just to see what this thing was about. Despite it being 1am, she immediately started receiving matches. In less than an hour she had over 50 potential matches and was quickly overwhelmed. She closed the app, went to bed, and decided to delete it in the morning. The next morning Kayla had over 500 potential matches waiting for her. Curiosity, again, got the better of her and she and ended up matching with a few people. Ryan was one of those lucky matches. He asked for Kayla’s number and they both quickly deleted their profiles on Facebook Dating. Kayla was in the middle of a ‘single girl summer’ and had a jam packed schedule full of trips and adventures. Consequently, she was initially too busy to make actual plans for a date. But Ryan waited patiently. Once Kayla got back from her last trip of the summer, Ryan asked when he could see her.

Ryan and Kayla became an official couple after about a month of going on dates and getting to know each other. Kayla knew she was in love after about 6 and a half months but was too afraid to tell Ryan. Instead, she told him he ‘might be my person.’ Ryan seemed to get the gist of what Kayla meant and said she might be his person too.

Ryan knew he loved Kayla when she planned a picnic date at the beach to watch a sunset. This was something Ryan had mentioned he had always wanted to do and was touched that she went out of her way to do something so special for him. As he sat on the beach, he realized that he loved her and that she might be the one!
