Our Wedding

We asked Ryan's sister, Casey to marry us. In her preparation, she asked both of us to share our version of how we met. She did such a great job we decided to share her words.In the beginning of 2022, Ryan and Johna met in what Johna felt was an “unconventional” way: on a dating app. Ryan wasn't having the best luck dating and was at the point where he felt “if this doesn’t work out, I’m giving up for a while.” They agreed to get sushi and he offered to pick her up. Much to his surprise, Johna said yes. So, he drove over 45min to get her…30 minutes past the restaurant, because he didn’t want to mess this up. Johna was very impressed to see him waiting outside the car for her, what a true gentleman. He was nervous on the date, had no idea how to pronounce her name (because neither of them introduced themselves). Apparently, he talked too much, but conversation flowed easily and the whole date went great. Ryan was ready to see where things would go, Johna was still unsure about dating anyone at the time – but he was such a gentleman, and he didn't try to kiss her after the first date!At some point over the next few days, they agreed to meet up again. She was going to be in the area with some friends. So, while he was out having a beer with a few friends, he waited for her to text him….and continued to wait, only Johna was not super responsive texting. Deep into a girls night she got distracted and didn't inform him that she and her friends decided to stay in for the night. He went home upset, wondering what he did or said wrong. Meanwhile Johna decided, if he texted her again, she would go on that second date. The next day golfing, he told Dad he thought the first date went great, but she ghosted him the night before. He was bummed the whole round, but as fate would have it, (and probably some liquid courage) he decided to text her again (because she’s obviously not texting back so what did he have to lose?) She answered and said that she forgot because she was with her friends and never actually made it out (aka blew me off, rude.) BUT she agreed to a 2nd date. This time a little closer to her, so he didn’t have to drive all over Gods’ creation. The night flew by, and they ended up closing the place down (she even got that kiss). He knew from the first date that he was going to marry her one day. Johna portrayed confidence in herself and passion for her career. The conversation was easy, nothing felt forced about being around her (aside from pretending he liked cats). From then on, their relationship continued to feel that way, “easy and natural”. Johna always felt she could be 100% her goofy self and Ryan always showed up in the ways someone should in a relationship. Ryan showed her all the things she needed and didn’t know she needed in a partner…. Which led to saying the easiest “yes” of her life.
