Ryan and Dana’s story began in February 2017 in Mount Pleasant, while they were both students at Central Michigan University. Little did they know, a competitive pool game at The Bird would lead to the rest of their lives.

After tracking her down the next day, Ryan asked Dana out for coffee, which led to more coffee dates, which led to library dates, Max and Emily dates, and, you guessed it, more Bird dates. Their love bloomed over their remaining months at CMU, and they navigated first jobs, apartments, and more together after graduation.

Post undergraduate studies, Dana and Ryan enjoyed years of hiking, biking, and traveling together. This set the tone of their relationship, with getting outside, exploring a new town, visiting local museums, or cheering on their favorite sports teams considered their perfect day. It’s even better when spent with their family and friends.

In 2020, Dana and Ryan were ready to set down some roots, searching for and finding their new home in Plymouth. The past two years have been a series of learning moments and celebrations, and they have loved every minute of fixing, upgrading, and decorating their cozy house.

Mackinac Island has always held a special place in Dana’s heart, after spending her childhood visiting the island countless times. Ryan knew it would be the perfect place to propose, especially after he came to love the island as Dana did. He waited until they had a moment alone, and got down on one knee under the willows in front of The Grand Hotel. The couple couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day: with champagne and celebrations starting immediately with their friends and family on the island.
